🌟 Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Ellie! 🌟

Today we’re celebrating Ellie, our amazing Assistant Support Facilitator, who has been part of the RCS family for one year.

When Ellie reflects on her journey so far, one moment that stands out is a recent meeting at Browns Plains, where she joined managers and other facilitators for a scenario-based Q&A session. Listening to their years of experience left her inspired and eager to continue learning, and she credits the generous support of her colleague Beth for giving her the confidence to grow into her role.

At her core, Ellie is a people person – something that shines through every day in her work. She loves the conversations and connections she shares with support workers, participants, families and professionals, and says these relationships are what make her role so meaningful. One of her fondest memories is with a participant who turned a simple phone call into a Mrs. Doubtfire prank. That playful moment has now become a weekly tradition, bringing plenty of laughter while also strengthening their connection – a beautiful reminder that even in professional roles, the human element is what makes all the difference.

Over the past year, Ellie has discovered just how complex and multi-layered each situation can be. Navigating different perspectives has not only helped her grow professionally but has shaped her personally too. Looking forward, she’s excited to keep learning, upskilling and building her career in the NDIS, while also embracing her new life in Australia – a place she now proudly calls home.

Ellie, thank you for the warmth, energy and heart you bring to RCS. We are so grateful for all that you do, and can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next. 💛

✨🌸 It’s Women’s Health Week! 🌸✨
This week is about recognising the importance of women’s health in all its forms; physical, emotional, and mental. It’s a reminder to pause, check in with ourselves, and take steps toward balance and wellbeing. 💜

Inspiration for today:
"Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." – Audre Lorde
This year's theme is "Say yes to you". Your health matters. Your voice matters. You matter.

🌟 This week we’re celebrating Chantelle, who will mark two years with Real Community Services this October!

One of her most rewarding memories is from a BBQ event where each branch came together with participants and their support workers for a day of food, fun, and games. Seeing participants enjoying themselves alongside the support workers she carefully matched them with gave Chantelle a wonderful sense of pride. đź’™
💬 “It was so rewarding to see that I had made the right decision and matched up some great people.”

Chantelle is passionate about self-care and making sure we all take time to decompress after a busy day or week — whether that’s through the gym, being creative, or simply binging a favourite TV show. Outside of work, her favourite moments are spent with family. ❤️

This week’s focus is on Careers and Employment Opportunities within the NDIS, and Chantelle knows just how important this is in her role as a recruiter.

💬 “Supporting an NDIS participant is a personalised, person-centred role. When I interview potential support workers, I look beyond qualifications and experience. I want to understand their passions, values, motivations, and why they chose this industry. Our participants trust us to find the right people for them — and I want to deliver that every time.”

👏 Thank you, Chantelle, for your dedication, care, and commitment to connecting participants with the right people. You’re making a real difference every day!

A great read of a simple goal reached!

💙 Rob’s Inspiring Journey 💙

We believe every milestone — big or small — deserves to be celebrated. This week, we’re honoured to share the incredible progress of Rob, who moved into our Skyline Terrace home in March 2024.

When Rob joined us, he had been living in a nursing home and had sadly experienced neglect, leaving him with a stage 3 wound. Since September 2023, he had been unable to get out of bed.

Fast forward to yesterday, after 17 long months, Rob experienced the joy of having his first shower. 🚿✨ Something so simple for many of us, but for Rob, it was the result of months of perseverance, advocacy, and teamwork.

At first, Rob had no NDIS funding for the vital supports he needed. The team worked tirelessly to secure funding for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, specialised equipment (like hoists, slings, and shower chairs), and nursing for wound care. Each step forward was hard-earned.

With patience, persistence, and the dedication of Rob’s OT, physio, coordinator, and support team, we finally made it possible for him to safely enjoy that long-awaited shower.

The smile on his face said it all. đź’™

And we’re not stopping there — next on the list is something Rob has been talking about for so long… his first trip to the pub! 🍻

Rob’s journey is a reminder that progress isn’t always fast, but with the right support, advocacy, and belief, anything is possible.

🌟 This week, we’re excited to celebrate Peter as our RCS Hero! Having been with Real Community Services for around 1.5 years, Peter has already made a meaningful impact on both participants and colleagues as Support Worker.

When reflecting on his most rewarding memory, Peter shared the story of supporting a participant to build independence and improve their quality of life. Through patience, consistency, and teamwork, he watched gradual progress unfold, a journey that reminded him exactly why this work matters.

💬 “Watching those improvements gave a rewarding feeling that can’t be described. That experience reminds me of the importance of the work we do, why we do it, and the difference it makes in people’s lives.”

Passionate about inclusivity, growth, and positive change, Peter is committed to creating opportunities for participants to reach their goals and thrive.

Beyond his role, Peter recharges by enjoying the outdoors and staying active through fitness — a balance that helps him bring energy and focus to his work.

Peter also believes in the power of group activities to foster social connections and personal development.
💬 “Group opportunities are not only enjoyable but powerful in promoting teamwork, communication, and confidence.”

👏 Thank you, Peter, for your dedication, compassion, and belief in the potential of every participant. You truly embody what it means to be a hero at RCS.
