Raiders announce 6ft. 5 NFL beast will blow Viking horn at Allegiant Stadium

Darcie McDonald from Fox Sports

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – The Canberra Raiders have announced NFL player Tyler Manoa will blow the Viking horn before Saturday’s Round 1 clash with the Warriors at Allegiant Stadium.

Manoa, a Defensive Tackle, from the Las Vegas Raiders is of Tongan and Samoan decent – something CEO Don Furner believes makes him the perfect person for the job.

“We’re really excited today. We were trying really hard to get a Las Vegas Raiders player to be our ambassador,” Furner said during the Raiders’ walk-through of Allegiant Stadium.

“Of course our name came from the Raiders – the American NFL team – and we’re lucky enough to secure Tyler Manoa, who is of Polynesian heritage which makes it even more relevant.

“We’ve always had a proud history of Polynesian players at our club so we welcome here tomorrow to start the Viking clap hopefully with 60,000 people.”

It comes after reports the club was hoping to secure UFC boss Dana White as their Viking ambassador. However White, who lives in Vegas, will be out of town this weekend.

Instead it’ll be Manoa who will blow the new $10,000 horn that was made in America specially for the game.

Furner is confident Manoa is the right choice given the Raiders connection.

“We have to tell a lot of people – even people in the NRL that our name came from the NFL team,” he said.

“Ricky and I have been through their club a couple of years ago and we went through their training facility again yesterday, which was amazing.

“But there is a big Polynesian population playing gridiron now. I just saw Jordan Mailata (play in the Super Bowl)… ‘Papa’ (Josh Papalii) would’ve been a good NFL player if he grew up here, but it’s great to have that connection.”

The Raiders are now trying secure a jersey that’ll fit Manoa, who stands at 6ft. 5 and weighs 142kg.

The Viking horn will be delivered to Allegiant Stadium in the early afternoon of Friday for a sound check and rehearsal.

DUE TO A PLANNED POWER OUTAGE OUR PRACTICE IS CLOSED ON TUESDAY 10 DECEMBER 2024 UNTIL 1530

With only a week's notice Evo Energy informed us that the entire village of Hall will have no access to power on Tuesday 10 December 2024 from 0830 to 1530 so that power lines can be upgraded. We sought advice from private electricians (since Evo Energy did not offer any solutions) and enquired about hiring petrol powered generators. However this would mean multiple power cables on the floor of our practice, no lighting and no airconditioning. We are still also not sure if the internet via the NBN would be accessible or if any mobile signal would be present. Our practitioners were willing to work under these conditions but in the interests of our patient's safety we decided to instead close the practice for that day and reschedule our patients for another day. Our phones will also be not working on that day.

We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused with our patients with such little notice.

We wish all the best for the residents of Hall on Tuesday with hot weather predicted.
