💻 In celebration of World Menopause Day on 18 October, the APodA was delighted to welcome Dr Nicky Keay to host our 'Hormone Health Matters' webinar.

As both a sports endocrinologist and a former dancer, Dr Keay brought a unique blend of scientific insight and lived experience to her discussion on the pivotal role of hormones in health and performance.

Focusing on women’s health and the physiological changes that occur throughout life, Dr Keay explored how understanding hormonal fluctuations can empower practitioners in caring for their patients.

She emphasised the importance of harnessing hormones through balanced nutrition, adequate recovery, and a holistic approach to care.

Attendees came away with valuable strategies for supporting patients through all stages of hormonal transition, in particular navigating treatment plans for menopausal women with compassion and care.

👣 Thank you to everyone who took part in !

It's been a hugely successful week of educating Australians on the work podiatrists do and the value it brings to the health and wellbeing of people in all stages of life.

By raising awareness of the importance of foot and lower limb health, we not only strengthen the credibility of podiatry but also expand opportunities for podiatrists across the country.

Thanks again for helping us inspire people to not only learn more about podiatry and the invaluable services podiatrists provide, but to also perhaps book an appointment or consider podiatry as a career choice!

On a sunny day, Katrina hopped on her partner’s Harley-Davidson to visit family, but their ride took a tragic turn when a ute unexpectedly turned left into their path. The crash sent Katrina flying, resulting in severe injuries and significant trauma to her feet.

After being rushed to the hospital, she began working with a podiatrist for rehabilitation. "My podiatrist is helping me recover. I could barely walk at first, but with my orthotics and orthopedic shoes, I'm feeling more comfortable," Katrina shared.

I met Katrina when she sought legal advice for her road injury claim. With her podiatrist's support, we've built a strong case to cover lost wages and rehabilitation costs. Our partnership with allied health professionals, such as podiatrists, is crucial; we help injured patients claim compensation for time off work and ongoing treatments.

“Having my podiatrist and Maurice Blackburn in my corner has given me hope for my recovery,” Katrina said. Together, we’re committed to helping her get back on her feet.

This Podiatry Week, 13-19 October, we’re celebrating the great outcomes we achieve for injured people by working in partnership with podiatrists across the country.
