Podiatry students are required to complete between 1,000–1,200 hours of unpaid clinical placement, often in rural, remote or regional areas where workforce shortages are acute as part of their training.

These placements mean students lose income from paid work, and in many cases, face the cost of dual rent, transport, and accommodation, all without financial assistance.

APodA and podiatry graduates, Elise Stevenson and Blake Withers, were in Canberra today advocating for a sector-wide call to expand student prac payments.
