POV: "You Thought Myotherapy Was Just a Massage”

You came for a ‘deep tissue massage’.

You left with a better understanding of your body, more movement, less pain, nervous system calm, and a plan for thriving—not just surviving.

That’s not a massage. That’s Myotherapy.

Managing Migraines 💡

If headaches or migraines are a regular part of your life, you're not alone - but there are some simple and effective strategies to help manage them and reduce their frequency and intensity.

🏠 At home strategies:
🧘‍♂️ Stress management - meditation, breath work & relaxation techniques help reduce triggers
😴 Sleep hygiene - keep a consistent sleep schedule & limit screen time before bed
🥑 Nutrition & supplements - magnesium & B vitamins can support nervous system health
💧Hydration - staying hydrated can help prevent migraine attacks

Lastly, if you're struggling with migraines Myotherapy can be an effective management strategy. Myotherapy can help by:
✅ Releasing tension in the neck, shoulders and jaw
✅ Improve mobility through these areas
✅ Encourage calming and down regulation of the nervous system
✅ Prescribe exercises to help strengthen and stabilise

Migraines can be complex, but small changes can make a big difference in managing them.

Book an appointment today & let's help you get on top of your migraines.

Happy Palentines day! 💕

While Valentine's Day is often about romance, I'm celebrating in the spirit of Palentine's Day - a day to appreciate the incredible friendships that lift us up, keep us grounded, and generally make life that much better.

To all the amazing friends (new and old) who have supported me, laughed with me, cried with me, and kept me accountable when I needed it - thank you. You make my world brighter, and I'm so grateful to you.

Take a moment today to celebrate yourself, your friendships and the people who make your heart full. You deserve it. Your myotherapist says so. 💚

Why does Pilates time move differently? A regular 5 seconds? No problem. But a Pilates 5 seconds??? Eternity! ⏳🔥

Have you been personally victimised by a pilates instructor's countdown?

🤔 Why am I still in pain?!

Your pain is the sum of your parts, or to put it differently... there's more to it than just sore muscles or tight joints. Pain is complex, and many factors influence how your body processes and experiences it.

If you've been diligently doing your exercises but still struggling, it might be time to look beyond just movement. Consider these key areas that can impact your pain levels:
✅ Prioritise quality sleep - Your body heals while you rest!
💧 Stay hydrated - Dehydration places stress on your body
💆 Manage stress - High stress = heightened pain sensitivity
🔄 Avoid repetitive postures and movements - Small habits can create big issues
🥗 Eat a balanced diet - Proper nutrition supports recovery & body functioning
🏋️‍♀️ Adjust your exercise load - Too much or too little can keep pain hanging around
😊 Do things that bring you joy - Social connection & enjoyable activities can reduce pain perception

Pain isn't just about one thing - it's a combination of factors. The good news? Small changes in these areas can make a big difference!

Are you putting up with discomfort?

Ever catch yourself saying; "Oh it's not that bad" or "I can live with it" when it comes to how your body feels?
You are not alone. So many of us put up with aches, tightness, or those annoying little niggles - convincing ourselves it's just 'normal'.

But here's the thing: It doesn't have to be.

Discomfort is your body's way of telling you something's off. Ignoring it might feel easier in the short term, but over time, small issues have a tendency to build and can lead to more pain and discomfort in the long run. Getting older DOES NOT mean you should feel more pain. Having a desk job DOES NOT mean you automatically have a sore neck. But ignoring the signals DOES mean that you are settling for discomfort.

🌟 Why not address it now and start feeling better? Imagine feeling better and living without that constant ache. You deserve that. 🌟

Don't settle for discomfort. Let's work together to resolve the cause in the long term, and help you feel like yourself again.

👉 Book your appointment today.

What's the difference between Myotherapy and other modalities?

This can be a difficult question to answer without getting kinda technical. All modalities share lots of similarities, but it can often vary widely across the profession and from practitioner to practitioner.

It's not really the difference between practitioners or modalities that is important - it's whether they can help you. At the end of the day, all modalities can help everyone, it's more about what is right for YOU.

So if you're asking, why should I see a Myotherapist? Then why not see one and see if they are able to help?

Also, order tacos for dinner that is always the right choice 😉

Sometimes finding the words to describe your pain are HARD. Sometimes you don't even want to call it pain... it just doesn't feel right? Or maybe it's sorta more of like an ache but then other times it's more like a catch.... Does this sound familiar?

Very often patients can find it hard to put their pain into words. But here's a Tuesday truth bomb for you... Sometimes it's really not *that* important.

Don't get me wrong. We want to hear about your pain, where it is, what it feels like and how it all started. But if you can't quite find the words - don't worry! Finding the exact words, describing exactly where you pain is and what it feels like, just don't matter that much at the end of the day.

Myotherapists have HEAPS of tools in their kit to help understand your pain. This can include physical assessment, specific orthopedic tests (just a fancy way to say testing specific movements) and a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and pain science. All of these help us to understand and 'get' your pain.

Pain has many more layers to it than just a mechanical cause. These 'other' causes of pain are often just as important if not MORE important that treating the location of your symptoms. So, there's no need to worry about being able to describe your experience exactly, tell us what you can and we can help you work out the rest.
