We've been diving into our archives of old photographs, uncovering memories that my mom has kept in boxes for years.

There's a special charm to these tangible photos compared to the thousands of digital images we store now.

Every now and then, you find a gem that takes you back to a golden moment.

This photo reminds me of the three why's exercise.
Take a moment and think:
What do I really want?
Write down your answer and ask yourself, why do I want that?
Write the answer again and ask, why do I want that? There is no magic in the number 3, repeat until stillness emerges.

There you are.

You are the breath.
You are the moment.

When we are confused, you are trying to get to here, the golden moment, from there, the idea of the golden moment.

When you are facing the right direction, you move from here towards creativity.

Right here is where the magic, power, and mystery reside.

Right here is the golden moment.

Experiencing a flow state in a profound golden moment can only be known from right here, so look in the right place.

Our first photograph together was taken 10 years ago.

The love was sudden, intense, and palpable to everyone around us.

Our friend Steve Manoa Andrews even wrote a song about us back then called "PDA's."

We were both on our own spiritual journeys when we fell completely head over heels into romantic love. Rheanna and I have been engaged for 8 years now.

After the first couple of years, we agreed we were not in a rush. Then, we kind of forgot about it, thinking, "we are pretty much married anyway." After that, we started to question ourselves, and that's when things got complicated...

Is this my fault? Your fault? Is it a fault at all?

I felt the implied weight of "manhood" on my shoulders.

How did I get here?

Fast forward to a week ago, to what felt like another proposal, but was actually just a real, unguarded conversation between us.

"I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to grow old and wrinkly with you and look back and say, 'Wow, look at all that crazy *hit we went through together.'"

For the first time in a long time, after the 2-year relationship haze of our second child started to clear, we feel more in love than ever.

We chose then and there the who, what, when, and how of it, and it was done.

In retrospect, I see that the whole 8 years was our journey into parenthood. I understand why people used to do it the other way around; becoming parents can be really confusing regarding love.

I can honestly say that investing time and energy in working on my relationship, myself, and sifting through the trials and tribulations of love and early parenthood, I am blessed to choose you.

In these last 10 years, I have spent countless hours training in, reading about, and delivering couples therapy. What I have learned about what works for us comes down to one thing:

Consciously investing in my part in this relationship every day.
