It’s R U OK? Day — and our team at Brunswick Private Hospital has shared their own suggestions to help get conversations started.

We know that checking in with someone can make a real difference, but starting that conversation isn’t always easy. That’s why our staff have come up with a few practical prompts — simple ways to ask how someone’s really going.

You’ll see these suggestions featured in photos around the hospital today. Feel free to use one, adapt it, or come up with your own — the important part is reaching out.

Honouring Indigenous Wisdom in a Digital Age
Aurora Healthcare Australia proudly joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on 9 August.

This year’s theme, “Indigenous Peoples and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures”, invites us to reflect on how emerging technologies can both empower and challenge Indigenous communities. Artificial intelligence holds promise for preserving ancestral knowledge, revitalising languages, and improving access to culturally safe healthcare. But without ethical safeguards, it risks reinforcing bias and digital exclusion.

At Aurora Healthcare, we recognise the deep cultural, spiritual, and ecological wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Their knowledge systems have sustained communities and Country for tens of thousands of years. We believe that healthcare must honour this legacy—not just in words, but in practice.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared history, learn from the truths of the past, and commit to building a future grounded in respect, equity, and unity.

This year’s theme, “Now More Than Ever,” is a powerful reminder that the journey toward reconciliation is ongoing—and that every voice, every action, and every commitment matters. It calls on us to stand up for justice, to amplify First Nations voices, and to walk together toward a more inclusive and compassionate Australia.

Reconciliation is not a single moment—it’s a movement. And it belongs to all of us.
