Did you know that at Honour Health, we make up Chinese herbal formulas specifically for your needs? We carry a wide range of classical formulas as well as a large range of single herbs that can be added to your formula or alternatively we can start from scratch to give you exactly what you need at the specific time. Concentrated granules are used which are easy to make up with just boiling water. Some say the taste is delicious, some would definitely disagree, but either way your body will thank you. If you are one who is unable to stomach different flavours then we do stock range of capsules and pills instead.
Dr. Vicki is a registered Chinese herbalist with AHPRA and has been prescribing herbs for over 20 years.

The humble licorice root

Liquorice has been used over the centuries in many parts of the world and renowned for its health giving properties. Its constituents include glycyrrhizin, volatile oils, coumarins, saponins & flavonoids among others. These give licorice its remarkable healing properties. Licorice is adrenal restorative. It can increase production of gluco and mineral corticoids, which are vital for controlling the body’s homeostasic balance, stress and immune responses.
Licorice is also useful to balance blood sugars and can be helpful for duodenal ulcers. The list is long and can be somewhat surprising given we take it for granted as a tea these days. In addition to these, in Chinese medicine we use licorice (Gan Zao) as a balancer. Licorice can enter all of the 12 Channels and harmonise the effects of other herbs.
Don’t consume licorice if you have high blood pressure or are on digitalis heart medications.
As always. Don’t overdo things and the body can adjust.

Interesting study on how the o**m attracts particular s***m.

https://www.facebook.com/share/MaCwxcHp37JWocoS/?mibextid=WC7FNe

We've all probably heard the story of how fertilization results after a long, arduous journey by the s***m...a race of sorts, where the fastest and strongest succeeds. [smells suspiciously of capitalism 🙄 ]⠀

In many ways the story makes it seem as though the female reproductive system is dormant throughout the process and merely a bystander to the epic journey of the s***m. But we know better now.⠀

In fact, research from Sweden in 2020 revealed that there's a communication system between the egg and the s***m, perpetuated by the egg. The egg actually has the ability to repel certain s***m (a molecular mechanism causes them to swim slower) and attract certain s***m (by releasing a chemoattractant within the surrounding fluid helping them move faster). Once the *right* s***m begins to pe*****te the egg, the egg then releases a chemical response that causes all of the other s***m's heads to pop off. Yup, mass decapitation. ⠀

And if that wasn't enough to convince you that the female body runs the world, that whole "epic journey through the fallopian tube" story ignores one of the most important pieces - the cervical crypts! The cervical crypts [btw, can someone please start a femme punk rock band with this name 🤘🏼 ] are lined with mucus producing glands that create different types of mucus for different purposes. One type of mucus is called L-mucus which filters out any low quality s***m. [boy, bye!] Another type of mucus is called P-mucus and this mucus helps to propel the s***m through the cervix and into the uterus just before or during ovulation [yeah, you're welcome].⠀

And just to keep things in perspective, the s***m is the smallest cell in the human body while the egg is the largest. I'm just gonna leave that right there...⠀

Did you know that we stock organic castor oil. Castor oil is derived from the seeds of the castor bean (Ricinus communis) The main component of castor oil is ricinoleic acid, which encourages the anti inflammatory properties. Castor oil can reduce the swelling and boost circulation. Castor oil primarily works on the lymphatic system. It encourages lymphatic flow and has even be shown to increase lymphocyte production.
At Honour Health, we recommend castor oil mostly for abdominal massage to help flush lymphatic flow in the pelvic region for reproductive organs, increase bowel movements and liver cleanse. There are many uses for castor oil, including skin and hair treatments. One study even found that castor oil massage can stimulate cutaneous-visceral reflexes that put your body into the relaxed parasympathetic state, allowing for decreased stress impact. I get this feedback from clients a lot following their self care routines with this.Available in 100mL and 200mL.

When you go to pottery class and you’re an acupuncturist🤓. ✨
Anyone that comes to my clinic, knows that I love moxibustion.! 🌟As soon as you walk in the door, you can smell all of the different types.
Moxa is a naturally processed form of mugwort, which is a type of wormwood. There are many different types of moxibustion and i use each one, depending on what outcome I am trying to create. Simplistically, moxa benefit arises from its pharmacological action, it’s thermal effects, and it’s infrared physical properties. Stay tuned for more moxa posts to come .

Had a chat with the inspirational Kaye Vlachos recently about acupuncture’s wonders. For those of you that have regular acupuncture, this may not be new news. If you have any questions, please ask away. 🤓💖

Your podcasts are so inspirational - I have listened to the breath episode with my 9yr old son (he is allergic to everything and breathes really loud) and he loved it too and asked if he could play it at school I thought that was beautiful.
