Folic acid, or folate, is a B vitamin usually found in dark green vegetables, like broccoli, and legumes. 🥬

Studies show that taking folic acid as a supplement daily both before conception and around 3 months after becoming pregnant, greatly reduces risk of neural tube defects.

These defects usually occur within the first 28 days of pregnancy, before many women even realise they are pregnant.

Before taking any supplements, consult with an experienced obstetrician!

Curious about your little one's gender? It's an exciting milestone for parents-to-be as they eagerly anticipate the arrival of their bundle of joy!

Typically, ultrasound scans can reveal the gender of your baby around 18-20 weeks into pregnancy, although some may show as early as 14 weeks.

Sometimes, your baby may be in an awkward position, obstructing the view of their s*x. No worries, as your doctor can check for the s*x again at a later time.

To learn more about when to get an ultrasound, book a consultation!

Endometriosis can affect fertility in a few ways. This condition causes tissue similar to the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus, causing pain, especially during periods.

The condition can also cause distorted anatomy in the uterus and pelvic structures, and change the hormonal environment.

However, that does not mean that having endometriosis will stop you from getting pregnant entirely. There are many treatments that can increase fertility - from lifestyle changes, to medical assistance.

Book a consultation with Dr Larwood to learn more.

When pregnant, you might find your sleep routine changing. Settling into a comfortable position for the night might get harder, so here are some of the best tips for improved sleep:

Side Sleeping: Opt for the left side to improve circulation to the heart and baby.

Pillows Galore: Place a pillow between your knees for added hip support and under your bump to ease pressure.

Elevate: Prop yourself up with pillows to reduce heartburn and aid digestion.

Stay Active: Gentle exercise during the day can help alleviate discomfort and promote better sleep.

Relaxation Techniques: Practice deep breathing, meditation, or prenatal yoga before bed to unwind.
