This show has worked well for a patient that requires support but finds it difficult to get shoes on and off. We have used a semi customised orthotic device which has worked really well to reduce fatigue when walking. For more information on customised and semi customised arch support options please call 📞 07 5338 7387

Meet Holly with nearly 20 years in podiatry, Holly is one of those practitioners who’s truly a cut above. She graduated back in 2006 and has seen just about everything — which means you’re in incredibly safe, capable hands.

Holly enjoys all aspects of podiatry care, bringing a calm, considered approach and a depth of experience across diabetes, wound care, orthotic therapies and heel pain. We’re lucky to have her supporting the BFA team every Thursday in clinic, and she also helps us care for patients through home visits when getting to the clinic isn’t easy.

If you’re looking for experience, expertise, and someone who genuinely cares about keeping you moving well — Holly’s your girl.

With Netball season about to start:
1️⃣ Build back gradually
Don’t jump straight into full games after a break. Start with skills + conditioning sessions to let tendons and joints adapt (Achilles injuries love a rushed comeback).
2️⃣ Respect landing mechanics
Most netball injuries happen on landing. Aim for:
Soft, bent-knee landings
Avoiding inward ankle collapse
Strength through calves, hips & core to protect the feet below
3️⃣ Shoes matter (a LOT)
Choose netball-specific shoes with:
Firm heel counter
Good midfoot support
Lateral stability
Worn-out runners = higher ankle sprain risk 🚨
4️⃣ Ankles love strength, not just strapping
Taping/bracing helps short-term, but long-term protection comes from:
Single-leg balance drills
Calf raises
Hopping & change-of-direction control
5️⃣ Don’t ignore early warning signs
Red flags to act on early:
Heel or Achilles pain
Midfoot aching after training
Recurrent ankle “rolling”
Early treatment = faster recovery (and fewer missed games).
6️⃣ Juniors aren’t just small adults
Growing players are prone to:
Heel pain (Sever’s)
Growth plate overload
Fatigue-related technique breakdown
Early screening can prevent a whole season on the sidelines.
