It’s still out there - let’s not get complacent!!!
Remember - Social Distancing, Hand Washing, Test if you or family are sick AND Isolate till you get the result.

Everyone in Queensland, including children, should get tested for COVID-19 if they show any symptoms – no matter how mild.

The most common symptoms are:
📌Fever
📌Cough
📌Sore throat
📌Shortness of breath
📌Runny nose
📌Fatigue

As restrictions ease across Queensland, the risk of COVID-19 cases happening in the Queensland community increases, so we actually need more people to get tested for COVID-19. So, if anyone in your family is sick with any COVID-19 symptoms, you should get them tested straight away.

❌ MYTH = BUSTED ❌

Guidelines by the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) say parents should feed babies peanut butter/paste and eggs before 12 months but not before six months. A peanut allergy study found introducing peanut to high-risk infants between 6 and 12 months reduced the risk of allergy by roughly 80 per cent when they were five years old.

If you have concerns about your child and allergy, discuss how best to introduce the foods with their doctor.

New apps pop up all the time and more often than not, our children are the ones to know about them before we do.

Thank you to Lancashire Police for sharing this informative post and graphic:

"Below are just a handful of social media apps that have become increasingly popular with children and young people. While some of these are completely innocent and we hope your children never experience bullying, harassment or exploitation, time and time again we see people use these apps to target, abuse and manipulate young people - be that sexual, criminal or online bullying.

Knowledge is power – speak to your children about their mobile usage. Set your expectations for what it will be used for and talk to them about online safety. You can find out more at socsi.in/internetmatters_4dkPb or socsi.in/NSPCC_HcBhR – build the expectation that you will trust them with the device, on the condition that they will be honest and open with you if something goes wrong. Remember not to blame them if it happens - nobody deserves to be abused or bullied.

If your child is contacted by someone who pressures them into doing things they don’t want to, or bullies and harasses them, encourage them to tell you. Having open conversations about safety is paramount to making sure they stay safe, and are savvy about how they use these apps. This doesn’t just mean sexual exploitation; we have seen examples of classmates using social media to gang up on, and bully their friends. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Knowledge is power – help them to protect themselves."
