Skipping naps and a late bedtime will affect your child's next 24 hours. Don't let anyone tell you that naps are not important or skipping naps will help your baby sleep longer at night.

This is not true, what will happen is that your child will end up over tired which will cause longer settling to sleep, crying and more night time wakings.

We all wake during the night at some point when we come into lighter sleep.

When your child wakes in the night, wait a few minutes before going into them. They may have come out of a sleep cycle into lighter sleep and may settle back to sleep without your help.

HOW MUCH SLEEP DEBT DO YOU CARRY?
When we deprive ourselves of sleep, the total amount of sleep loss accumulates over days. If you loose one hour of sleep a night, at the end of the week you will have 7 hours of sleep debt - almost a full night's sleep.
