Dr Tijany started his career working in rural Sudan, where access to healthcare was limited and the need was high. From there, he built his experience in Dubai, a completely different system, pace, and lifestyle.

Like many international GPs, the idea of moving to Australia came with a lot of unknowns.

Exams. AHPRA registration. Clinic selection. Contracts. Relocating a family.

Fast forward to today, he’s settled in Hobart, Tasmania, building his career and embracing a lifestyle he never expected to enjoy as much as he does.

It’s a good reminder that every GP journey is different, and sometimes the path isn’t linear, but it leads exactly where it needs to.

👉 You can read Dr Tijany’s full GP Journey on the dxc website: www.dxcmedical.com.au

If you’re an international GP considering Australia (even in the early stages), please reach out, we would be happy to assist.

Not every GP journey goes to plan.

And when things go off track, it’s often not clinical… it’s administrative.

Dr Jun’s situation is a good example of how quickly things can become complicated, and how the right support can make all the difference.

After facing a disruption in his original placement, Dr Jun was at risk of having to step backwards in his pathway, including potentially re-sitting a PESCI exam.

enter ADMIN+.........

Instead, within one week, we were able to secure him a new role that aligned with his current registration.

No restart. No new PESCI. No unnecessary delays.

Just a smarter path forward.

Through our ADMIN+ service, the team managed the entire transition behind the scenes for Dr Jun and the new clinic;

- Coordinating AHPRA, the practice, and supervision requirements
- Managing the PESCI Change of Circumstances application
- Ensuring visa continuity
- Updating compliance documentation and contracts
- Supporting his relocation from the Philippines to Queensland

Today, Dr Jun is settled at The Doctors Mackay, building his patient base and enjoying the lifestyle he moved to Australia for.

For most international doctors, it’s not the medicine that’s difficult, it’s navigating the system.

And when that part is handled properly, everything else becomes a lot easier.

Sadly, there are many IMGs like Jun whose offer falls through after successfully passing a PESCI.

If you’re unsure about your next step, or something in your process doesn’t feel right, it’s worth having a conversation.

ADMIN+ isn't just for medical practices, it is a service regularly utiulised by international GPs too.

Which RACGP exam is the hardest?”

The answer isn’t always straightforward.

Each of the three exams, AKT, KFP and CCE, tests something very different, and understanding that difference is often what separates a pass from a repeat attempt.

In our latest blog we break down:
- What each exam actually assesses
- Pass rate trends over the past 3 years
- Where most candidates struggle (and why)

If you’re currently preparing, or planning your pathway to Fellowship, our recent article is worth a read. www.dxcmedical.com.au

Why are so many UK & Irish GPs making the move to Australia?

It’s not just one thing, it’s a combination of career opportunity and lifestyle.

☀️ Better work-life balance
🌊 Coastal, metro & regional lifestyle options
💰 Competitive earnings and flexible contracts
🏥 High demand = strong patient bases from day one

Whether it’s reducing burnout, increasing earning potential, or simply enjoying more time outside of work… Australia offers a different pace.

And the best part? There’s no “one size fits all”, we help tailor opportunities to suit your goals.

A DXC Medical partner will be in the UK this May if you’d like to chat in person about what’s possible.

To arrange a time to meet, please contact Shayla directly for further details.

One of the best ways to start the week is hearing from an offshore GP that their PR has finally been granted.

In today's case, it took 10 months.

A great outcome, but it does raise an important question we have been discussing more frequently with doctors considering the move to Australia.

Is waiting offshore for PR always the best approach?

For many, securing permanent residency before relocating feels like the safest and most logical option. And in some cases, it is.

But in the current environment, it’s not always the most efficient pathway.

We are still seeing the majority of GPs choosing to enter Australia on a Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) first, then transitioning to PR once they are onshore.

There are a few practical reasons behind this:
- The ability to start working and earning sooner (often 3-8 months sooner)
- Gaining firsthand experience in the Australian healthcare system
- Settling in earlier, both professionally and personally
- A quicker & smoother transition to PR from within Australia

When you look at the broader picture, waiting 6 to 12 months offshore can come at a cost, not just financially, but in terms of time, experience, and momentum.

It is also asking for a lot from a prospective Service Provider to hold a valuable spot open with no assurance when the PR will be granted.

The key is understanding all available options and making an informed decision based on your priorities.

In many cases, those who choose to come earlier are already well established by the time their PR pathway progresses, working, settled, and building continuity in their role.

Sometimes the more effective pathway is not the most obvious one.

If you are currently weighing up your options, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your specific personal and professional requirements.

After 14+ years in general practice, Dr Siva wasn’t looking to leave GP work…He was looking to add something back in.

In our recent Inside Urgent Care article he shares how working in an Urgent Care Centre helped him reconnect with acute medicine, without stepping away from general practice.

From laceration repairs to managing urgent presentations, the work is:
✔ Hands-on and clinically engaging
✔ Well-supported with strong nursing teams
✔ Flexible around existing GP commitments

“Urgent care felt like a good fit… I could keep my regular GP work, but also practice skills I hadn’t used in a long time.”

It’s a great example of how urgent care can complement general practice, not compete with it.

If you have ever felt like you’re not fully utilising your clinical skillset, this is well worth a read.

For some GPs, locum work fills a gap.
For others, it becomes something much more.

Dr Shoaib shares how locum work shaped his journey in Australian general practice, from his first role in South-West Sydney to working across metro and rural communities.

What started as a practical step quickly became a way to:
✔ Experience different practice environments
✔ Build adaptability and clinical confidence
✔ Explore Australia beyond the clinic walls

His perspective is a great reminder that locum work isn’t just about flexibility, it can play a key role in finding the right long-term fit.
