Never a dull moment at Morrissey. We had an unexpected visitor in the client toilet. Our evacuation drills paid off as staff and clients evacuated in an orderly fashion. Well done to all. Thank you to our brave warrior princess who picked the danger noodle up and relocated it outside in the parkland.

Today, the Aged Care Amendment Bills have passed through Parliament, heralding the way for the implementation of the new Aged Care Act.

“It’s been wonderful to see all corners of the Parliament putting older Australians first with the passing of these Bills,” Ageing Australia CEO Tom Symondson said.

We are now calling on the Government to ensure the release of the final rules as soon as possible. With only two months until the new Act takes effect, providers urgently need clarity to prepare. Timely release is critical to ensure providers can deliver the best outcomes for older Australians.

“Everyone wants this to work, providers most of all, and with the end in sight, we need this last hurdle to be passed. That gives us the best chance of seeing these reforms succeed.”

This song reminds me of a truly incredible man named Mr Spike Jones who dedicated many years to volunteering and looking after the gardens at Morrissey. He passed a few years ago but I know he is still Flying high with his Angel wings.
