Hot water can scald in seconds, and people with disability may be at higher risk of injury.

NDIS providers and workers can prevent serious burns by installing temperature-limiting devices and always checking the water before a participant enters.

✨ Ability Group Weekly Highlights ✨

Week of September 27, 2025 🌟

What an amazing week it’s been! We’ve been busy making memories and having a blast together:
• 🍝 Cooking Tasty Meals: Our kitchen was filled with delicious smells as we cooked up some mouthwatering meals. A big thank you to everyone who helped!
• 🎶 Christmas Songs Practice with Caring Hearts Voices: We’re already getting into the holiday spirit as Caring Hearts Voices, our talented choir, practices for the Christmas parade! Singing and dancing with friends has been so much fun!
• 🥁 Finding Rhythm in Drumbeat: A big shoutout to our Drumbeat crew for rocking the rhythms!
• 🐴 Caring for Indie the Pony: Indie the pony had a fantastic week being pampered and loved by our group.
• 🎳 Bowling Fun: The good times rolled at Bundaberg Tenpin Bowling! It was such a joy watching new friendships form, and everyone had a blast.
• 🏊‍♀️ Hydrotherapy Relaxation: Some relaxing time in the hydrotherapy pool helped everyone unwind and recharge.
• 🏀 Shooting Hoops & Outdoor Games: Lots of laughs and friendly competition during our outdoor games, including shooting some hoops.
• 🌭 Friday Sausage Sizzle: Our Friday outing at the Botanical Gardens was a hit! From navigating the play equipment to riding the train and exploring the park, it was a full day of fun.
• 🎬 Movie Day (Wednesday): Everyone had an amazing time watching Despicable Me at the movies on Wednesday! Afterward, we headed to the park for a delicious lunch and enjoyed the sunshine. It was a fun-filled day of laughter and great memories.
• 🤠💃 Line Dancing Practice: Even some line dancing steps were learned this week! It was a fun way to keep active and show off some new moves.
• 💃 Dance Ability Fun: We had a blast with our Dance Ability session, which included the Chicken Dance, the Hokey Pokey, YMCA, Macarena, and of course, the Nutbush! So many laughs and plenty of grooves!
• ♻️ Recycling Program: Our recycling program continues to be a hit! Everyone participates really well and enjoys helping out. Not only are we making a positive impact on the environment, but we’re also raising money for our Ability Group arts and crafts and activities. It’s been wonderful seeing the team come together for such a great cause!
• **🎉 Birthday Wishes: We want to wish a big happy birthday to Gaylee and Jayden! We hope your special day was filled with love, joy, and celebration! 🥳🎂

I know we’ve only just posted about Halloween, but Christmas is coming in faster than a speed skate!!

Today we lodged our request to be part of the 2025 Pageant of Lights. This year it will be on Thursday 4th December so lock it in to your diaries now.

We had such an amazing turn out last year and we’d love for you all to join us again as we skate up and down Bourbong Street 🛼🎄

🚑 Sepsis is a medical emergency! 🚑

It happens when the body’s response to an infection starts damaging its own tissues and organs.

It is a leading cause of death and disability in children — and early signs can look like mild illness, making it difficult to diagnose.

🧠 Trust your gut.
You know your child best. If they seem more unwell than usual or this illness feels different…

ask, "Could it be sepsis?"

⏰ Early recognition and treatment can save lives.
