🎉💐 Happy 100th Birthday Margaret! 💐🎉

Yesterday we had the absolute honour of celebrating a very special milestone at the Guava Café — our dear friend Margaret turned 100! 🥳✨

Margaret has been visiting the Guava Café since the day we first opened, and her weekly visits are something our team looks forward to with so much joy. Over the years, she’s built a beautiful bond with all of us at IWC, and it was a privilege to host her birthday party alongside her friends and our staff 💛

Here’s to a remarkable woman who inspires us all with her warmth, kindness, and spirit. 🫶 We can’t wait to share many more cups of coffee and smiles with you Margaret!

🔥 Celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers & Practitioners 💛🖤❤️

On Thursday, August 7th, IWC came together to celebrate the National Day of Recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners.

Our incredible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Team marked the occasion with a mouth-watering BBQ for the whole organisation — a feast of sausages, chicken, and burgers with all the trimmings! 🍔🌭🍗

In true community spirit, the team chose to spend their special day giving back. Rather than having something done for them, they wanted to show their appreciation for every member of IWC who works toward the shared goal of a healthier community.

For them, the joy comes from cooking for others and watching people gather, share a yarn, and connect over a meal they’ve prepared with care.

We’re so grateful for the dedication, generosity, and heart our health workers bring to the community every day. 💛

Thank you to Walkervale State School for having us celebrate NAIDOC with you all. It was a privilege to gather in your thoughtfully designed yarning circle — a beautiful space for students to connect, reflect and come together. What a wonderful way to bring culture and space in the playground for yarning.

🌟 Celebrating Excellence at IWC 🌟

A huge congratulations to Stephanie Rickman, our incredible Endorsed Midwife, clinical nurse and Connected Beginnings Program lead here at IWC, on winning the Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union People’s Choice Award AND receiving a Bullwinkel Scholarship. WOW Super Stephanie 🎉

Stephanie’s passion for education and advocacy for rural healthcare is nothing short of inspiring. Stephanie reflects on her work and beautifully captures the essence:

"For a long time I thought I was not where I should be,
but now I know this life is meant for me.
My new community are here,
and to be fair how blessed am I to provide continuity of care.
Tired I get but it will never grow old
To sit quietly at night watching life’s journey unfold."

At IWC we’re beyond proud to have Stephanie as part of our extended family. Her commitment to providing holistic healthcare, especially to families who might otherwise lack access to continuity of care, is what makes her work truly special.

Thank you, Stephanie, for your unwavering dedication and for being a beacon of excellence in rural healthcare. We’re so proud to work alongside you!

🌿🎨 Len's Cultural Journey

We're excited to share the inspiring story of one of our amazing NDIS participants, Len, who has recently embarked on a cultural journey into Indigenous art.

Drawing from his connection to the land, Len has been creating stunning artworks that tell a powerful story of connection to country.

We are honored to have acquired three of Len's paintings to display in our building, and we welcome everyone to come down to the IWC NDIS LAC Office to say hi and view these incredible artworks.
