🎨 More than just face paint – it’s culture, connection, and identity. 🖤💛❤️

At the IWC NAIDOC Block Party, our face painting station isn’t just for fun (though it will be plenty of that too!) – it’s a chance to honour an ancient tradition deeply rooted in Aboriginal culture.

For thousands of years, face and body painting has been used to tell stories, mark ceremonies, represent kinship and identity, and show connection to Country. Each line, shape and symbol carries meaning – linking people to ancestors, land, and community.

This NAIDOC Week, as we celebrate “The next generation – strength, vision, legacy”, we invite you to sit, paint, and learn. Let the act of painting become a moment of respect, learning and cultural pride – for kids, families, and community.

📍Find our cultural face painting station at the IWC Block Party on July 9 – and wear your story with pride.

🪨🎨 Rock Painting – One of the Oldest Storytelling Traditions on Earth 🖤💛❤️

Join us at the IWC NAIDOC Block Party for rock painting – a hands-on activity inspired by one of the most ancient forms of Aboriginal art and storytelling.

For tens of thousands of years, Aboriginal people have painted on rock surfaces – in caves, on cliffs, and on sacred sites – to record Dreaming stories, track history, mark territory, and pass down knowledge through generations.

These artworks weren’t just decoration – they were, and still are, part of a living cultural archive that connects people to spirit, Country and ancestors.

At our rock painting station, kids and families can create their own artworks while learning about the significance of symbols, colours and stories in Aboriginal culture. It’s a beautiful way to honour tradition while sparking creativity in the next generation.

📍 Come paint with purpose on July 9 at the IWC Block Party – and celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC with culture in your hands.

☕✨ Exciting News! ✨☕
From Monday, June 30, the IWC Coffee Cart is relocating to Building 1 (the old café space) – transforming into a welcoming community hub where connection comes first.

Serving up old favourites for now, this relocation allows us to offer the community a space to come together, meet, yarn and connect.

Keep an eye out for more updates as we get settled into this new location and expand our offering.

Come by, pull up a chair, and be part of something special. 🧡💬

🌟 Celebrating Excellence at IWC 🌟

A huge congratulations to Stephanie Rickman, our incredible Endorsed Midwife, clinical nurse and Connected Beginnings Program lead here at IWC, on winning the Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union People’s Choice Award AND receiving a Bullwinkel Scholarship. WOW Super Stephanie 🎉

Stephanie’s passion for education and advocacy for rural healthcare is nothing short of inspiring. Stephanie reflects on her work and beautifully captures the essence:

"For a long time I thought I was not where I should be,
but now I know this life is meant for me.
My new community are here,
and to be fair how blessed am I to provide continuity of care.
Tired I get but it will never grow old
To sit quietly at night watching life’s journey unfold."

At IWC we’re beyond proud to have Stephanie as part of our extended family. Her commitment to providing holistic healthcare, especially to families who might otherwise lack access to continuity of care, is what makes her work truly special.

Thank you, Stephanie, for your unwavering dedication and for being a beacon of excellence in rural healthcare. We’re so proud to work alongside you!

🌿🎨 Len's Cultural Journey

We're excited to share the inspiring story of one of our amazing NDIS participants, Len, who has recently embarked on a cultural journey into Indigenous art.

Drawing from his connection to the land, Len has been creating stunning artworks that tell a powerful story of connection to country.

We are honored to have acquired three of Len's paintings to display in our building, and we welcome everyone to come down to the IWC NDIS LAC Office to say hi and view these incredible artworks.
