Message from our participant who is looking for a housemate to share supports (1:3) in a lovely, relaxed home here in Gracemere:

The house has 4 bedrooms, and each one comes with its own ensuite – so no sharing bathrooms!

There are also two lounge areas, which means we can each enjoy our own space when we need it. It's in a great spot too – only 7 minutes from Gracemere Shopping World.

Here’s a bit about what I’m looking for in a housemate:
• Someone who’s kind, caring, and respectful in a shared living space
• Someone who won’t cause harm to themselves, others, or the home
• I’m open to living with a male or female
• I’m an older gentleman, so having someone around a similar age would be great – but honestly, what matters most is having a good personality fit

If you think this sounds like it could work for you (or someone you know), please get in touch with Renee on 0422 085 933 or Amanda on 0413 709 236.

Today is R U OK? Day - and right now, a lot of Australians are doing it tough. The cost-of-living crisis is hitting hard: more than half of Australians say it’s majorly impacting their mental health, and 1 in 5 can’t afford to access the help they need. As pressure builds, from soaring rent and bills to food and fuel costs, many are juggling more than they can handle.

No one should face these struggles in silence. It might just start with a simple question: Are you okay?

Here are some trusted resources across Australia offering practical help and lifelines:
- Lifeline – 24/7 crisis support via phone (13 11 14) or online chat for anyone feeling unsafe or in distress.
- Beyond Blue - Free counseling, online resources, and information for anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, and su***de, 24/7 (1300 22 4636).
- Kids Helpline – For young people aged 5–25: free counselling 24/7 via phone (1800 55 1800), webchat or email.

Our WA Kanda team proudly supported the Unite Against MND Ball at the Perth Convention Centre - an extraordinary evening dedicated to raising crucial funds in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

Set against the backdrop of a candlelit enchanted garden, the event brought together clients, families, and community members for an unforgettable night featuring aerialists, roaming performers, and inspiring keynote speakers.

Most importantly, the funds raised will directly contribute to the Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA's services, helping ensure individuals and families affected by MND receive the care and support they need.

At Kanda, we are committed to standing with our clients and community, and we were honoured to be part of such a meaningful cause.

Child Protection Week 2025

At Kanda, every week is about protecting and supporting children and young people however Child Protection Week gives us an important opportunity to reflect on the impact of our work.

Last year we were honoured with the Queensland Child Protection Week Award for Regional Program for our innovative Jayur House model. Jayur House provides a safe and therapeutic environment for young people disengaged from placements, helping them to stabilise, heal, and reconnect with pathways to family, education, and community. Building on this success, we have now established a second Jayur House, extending this vital support to even more young people in QLD who might otherwise fall through the cracks.

Alongside this, we have strengthened our family support programs, recognising that the best way to protect children is to support the families around them. By providing practical and therapeutic support, we help families create safer, more stable environments where children can thrive.

We are also proud to have achieved Sanctuary Model certification, embedding a whole-of-organisation trauma-informed framework that strengthens safety, connection, and resilience across all our services.

Together, these milestones are more than achievements they are Kanda’s way of protecting more children and young people and ensuring they have every opportunity to feel safe, supported, and hopeful about their futures.
