The Picture 🧩

Who am I when I’m not what I was?
All the roles and titles I’d embraced and come to know
Now changed, marred, tattered or broken
Lying upended and adrift on the floor.

The picture was all together
The pieces all where they needed to go
Then things became blurred and foggy
And the picture less clear and defined.

In a place of confusion, sadness and grieving
I walked through the darkest valley of all
A journey you’d not wish on your enemy
Now emerging with a story to tell.

With words that gave inspiration
To keep going and not stop and stay
In this place disempowered, dejected and reeling
As a result of decisions others made.

So gathering up the pieces that could be salvaged
Recycled repurpose, renew
I start to frame a new picture
In which all these remnant pieces can go.

The job was not so easy
Making them fit was a challenge for sure
Then the realisation finally came to me
The original frame was now way too small.

This new life is ohh so much bigger
With dimensions, shape and colours galore
What looked like a bunch of leftovers
Is now the making of a masterpiece for sure.
