I made paleo cookies!! 🍪

These are so quick and easy to make, just combine all the ingredients, roll them into balls, squash them into cookie shapes and bake for 15 mins at 180 degrees.

I don’t measure ingredients so this is an approximate recipe. Good luck!!

1 cup almond meal
3 TBS almond butter
2 TBS rice malt syrup
2 TBS raw cacao powder
1/4 cup melted ghee (butter or coconut oil)
Dark chocolate chips or chunks
1 tsp vanilla essence
Pinch of salt

I also like adding orange rind and oil for a choc orange hit, or even peppermint essence for something fresh! I was thinking the other day I might try not adding cacao, just doing the chocolate chunks, browning the butter and going for a chocolate chip cookie dough flavour... the limit is... the limit does not exist. 🙌🏼🍪😘

Magic story... ✨

11 months ago a beautiful massage client came to me and said she was ready to invite in her next child. 🌸

We had a beautiful Ka Huna session together where we both felt a little male energy hovering close.

2 weeks later she felt this little soul anchor in.

While our intention was to connect again for bodywork during her pregnancy, it never aligned, so it was just beautiful to see her one month after her beautiful baby boy came into the world. 💙💚💛🧡❤️💜

Our session this time was about closing her energetic body, bringing her back to earth, grounding her into this reality so she can Mother her two babes with presence, clarity and focus.

Mums, do you remember being pregnant and feeling “off planet”or “focused inward”? Your loved ones might have said you were vague or distracted, not present or focused? In this closing session we honored that time of growth and inward focus, and then encouraged a refocusing on the external world, the present.

It was a beautiful ceremony to perform. And the little man slept deeply as solidly the whole time, just like he was receiving too!

I love the combination of Ka Huna and Heartworks Lomi Lomi. It’s a medicine I am absolutely honored to be able to share. 🙌🏼

Especially when I get to see gorgeous babies with the squidgiest cheeks in the world!!! 😍

Killing the bad bugs! 🦠🪱🪦
When starting an antimicrobial or antiparasitic naturopathic protocol, it’s important to keep in mind the state of the immune system and the functioning of the bowels.
As the bad guys start dying, we need to make sure our organs of elimination are in good working order to get them out. Constipation while doing this kind of protocol can result in an increase of symptoms like headaches, low energy, nausea and malaise. 👎🏼
Having a healthy immune system is also vital as the body will be taking a hit from dealing with all the dead bugs in the gut. It’s possible to end up with an illness during a cleanse if you’re not supporting your immune system during this time.
I recommend lots of water, rest, fiber and whole foods while staying clear of refined sugars, refined carbohydrates, alcohol and too much stress or exertion. Even exercise can knock the immune system at this time, so gentle movement like walking or stretching or yoga is preferable to anything high intensity.
Fingers crossed that bad bugs have been at the bottom of this patients chronic constipation for the last 10 years. So far, so good. 🙏🏼

So this is 38. ❤️
38 revolutions around the sun and sometimes I feel like a baby taking her first wobbly steps. Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived a hundred years. 👶🏼♾👵🏼
Needless to say with every revolution comes more lessons, more opportunities for grown, and more invitations to step into the person that I am. 🙌🏼
Thank you to everyone who sent me love today and to those who made my day extra special by catching up. 🙏🏼
Celebrated this morning with green tea and bagels. Celebrating tonight with a cocktails and green juice. Balance. ⚖️

💩 Happy days!! 💩
A lovely long time client of mine came in this week after an extreme Easter blow out. 😖
She said she couldn’t stop eating the kids “crap” Easter eggs, she felt exhausted and bloated and hadn’t pooped in 5 days! 🙅🏽‍♀️😫
I sent her off with a personalized herbal containing licorice, Siberian ginseng, gymnema, rehmannia and ginger.
3 days later and things are already looking up! Love herbal medicine magic! 🪄🌿🧙🏽‍♀️

Yesterday I said goodbye and good luck to some of my incredible naturopath students, finishing up clinic and their bachelor of naturopathy degrees.
I am proud of these next generation practitioners will be stepping out into the world and sharing their ample knowledge.
These newly fledged practitioners will change people’s lives. I have no doubt. It was a blessing to be part of their journey. And not just for the chocolate. 😉
I have a quote on my vision board that states “When you learn, teach. When you get, give”. They will all go out there to teach their clients what they know. One of our naturopathic principles is “Docere” to teach. Congratulations to you all finishing up, I’m very proud, impressed and inspired by you all. ❤️

🫖 Weekend Chai Ritual 🫖

A couple of mornings a week, mostly on weekends, I’ll spend time making my favorite chai. Honestly I’ve gotten so particular about it that buying a chai out at a nice cafe is often a disappointment. 😜

Blanket naturopathic statement- caffeine is the devil. 👿☕️

It encourages depleted cortisol, increased adrenaline, spikes then crashes our blood glucose levels, affects our nervous system and puts a heavy load on the liver. Oh, AND it inhibits the absorption of some of our essential nutrients such as iron. 👎🏼

For someone who is sensitive to caffeine like me, a cup of coffee on rare occasion seems ok, but have two in a week and I’m likely to be anxious, irritable, overthinking, sweaty, reactive, and experience poor sleep. Oh and tired. 🤦🏽‍♀️

So yeah... it’s just not my medicine. Even strong chai teas can affect me- more mildly but they still contain caffeine from black tea. I have found my combination to be the most beneficial for negating the yucky side effects of caffeine, while still enjoying the benefits! This is what I do...

Heat about 500ml of unsweetened almond milk on the stove with 2-3 heaped TBS of sticky chai mix (original and turmeric are my favorites).

Then I strain into the best keep cup I’ve ever had (because it’s so BIG, is insulated and fits all my chai!!) from .eco, then add about 2ml of an alcohol extracted medical mushroom tincture. I’m currently using Sh*take for its immune building and antioxidant properties from .

I then add a scoop of collagen powder- this one is for hair skin and nails. This mix is about 90% protein, so it slows down gastric emptying, helps to modulate blood glucose and gives more energy for longer. 💪🏼

I’ve found that the combo of medicinal mushrooms and either collagen or gelatin reduces the caffeine spike and crash, plus the protein keeps me full for longer. 😋

Happy chai-ing! 😘❤️🫖

Day before grocery day?

While it was tempting to nip down the road and get a naughty takeaway for lunch, I dug into the crisper and decided to make the most of my sad, week old greens.

For lunch we have stir fried broccolini, bok choy, snow peas and pepitas cooked in coconut oil, tamari, bone broth and sweet chili sauce!

Yes it would have been great to have some ginger, garlic, or protein to bulk this up a bit, but it did the job and I didn’t waste last weeks organic veg!

Feeling a solid adulting win for this one. Going to celebrate with a bubbly water with a splash of probiotic “cordial” in it. Healthy treat!

Bravery is...

Jumping off a waterfall when you’re afraid of heights.

Leaving your comfort zone- a job, a home, a partner, a personality trait.

Staying when you want to run.

Running when when think you should stay.

Watching someone die and continuing to live.

Really looking at yourself, your flaws, your ugliness, the s**t we ALL have inside us and choosing to accept and love that darkness too. Or trying to.

Knowingly breaking someone’s heart.

Opening to love, when you’ve been heartbroken, accepting it could happen again.

Apologizing to your family for hurting them unfairly, just because you are sure of their love.

Revealing your vulnerability to a friend who hurt you and telling them it’s not ok.

Stating your boundaries.

Saying yes to a new job, a new home, a new position, a new love, a new experience.

Saying no to a friend, loved one, boss, company, stranger.

Saying “I was wrong”.

Saying “I love you”.

Saying “I love ME more”.

Walking away, letting go, saying goodbye.

Asking for help.

Accepting help.

Putting one foot in front of the other.

Trying.

Being afraid and doing it anyway. Saying it anyway. Showing up anyway. Diving in anyway.

Bravery is jumping off a waterfall when you’re afraid of heights.

Dinner delicious! 🍛

Gluten free, dairy free, organic and soooo good. Beef stroganoff made from stroganoff mix, bone broth, oyster blade steaks, jasmine rice, cauliflower and broccoli.

I slow cooked this recipe for 4 hours, and have plenty left over for lunches during the week.

I love my slow cooker. Definitely my favourite way to cook stews and curries. And an absolute must for me in winter.

🌯 Is that even breakfast?!?! 🌯
I’ve been struggling recently to have allergen free, lower carb breakfasts.
I’m such a difficult client when it comes to breakfasts... While I love eggs, they’re a problem for me if I have too many and I’ve recently started reacting again. So eggs are off the table. 🙅🏽‍♀️🍳
If I have a higher carb breakfast like toast or cereals I have blood sugar crashes around 10 and start craving all the sweets and naughty snacks. 🙅🏽‍♀️🥞🍞🥣
Most of the paleo loves out there are either $20 or contain eggs or sunflower seeds- two intolerances I need to avoid. 🙅🏽‍♀️🥚🌻💸
So here we have my latest option. A Mediterranean inspired spelt wrap complete with bruschetta dip (sun dried tomato and capsicum), goats feta, baby spinach, cold roast eggplant and sweet potatoes, avocado and cherry tomatoes.
Not exactly high protein but the fact that it’s high fiber and phytonutrients should sustain me without the high carb crash. 💪🏼
An encouragement for anyone that needs to eat outside the square when it comes to food intolerances. Don’t be afraid to try lunch or dinner food for breakkie. You might be surprised at what you will enjoy! 🤤

🖤 B O U N D R I E S 🖤

Recently I’ve been challenged by both boundaries and triggers. By many people, many situations, even by myself in my dreams!! Triggers that cause me to question my boundaries. Boundaries that make me feel triggered. It’s been a lot. Anyone else?? Seriously, 2020 STLL?!?! What the f**k??? 😖

But in the midst of the intense discomfort I saw these challenges for what they really were. Gifts. 🎁F**king painful pieces-of-s**t gifts, but gifts none the less. 🙏🏼 ( 😑)

Honestly, they gave me rare insight into old belief patterns that were still lurking under the surface; old insecurities, old stories I chose to take on and hold as my truth. Trauma and wounding I thought I’d healed from but still remained inside me. 💔

It was easy to allow these challenges to be momentarily all consuming. To wallow in the pain, insecurity and discomfort. To feel wounding and heartbreak and sink into self despair. To doubt mySELF. 🤷🏽‍♀️

When I was 17 and learning these hard lessons for the first time, I did just that and more. I willingly pulled down every tiny boundary I ever had and swallowed every triggering event. 20 years later, while these boundaries are still sorely testing, while these triggers still hurt like a bitch, I got to see what has changed. 🦋

I altered my boundaries; explored what it was like to have them challenged, then redefined them when it didn’t feel good. I felt the wounding of my triggers as they stabbed me, and then chose to let them go instead of holding them tight. 🌬

My realization: I’ve grown.🐛My old patterns might always pop up now and again to challenge me (apparently a utopian world that doesn’t throw my s**t in my face occasionally isn’t possible? Who knew?!?) but from this experience I know I’m not that same wounded child anymore. 😊

Which allows me to be kind and full of love, but have boundaries like a motherf**ker. 💪🏼

So I am grateful. 🙏🏼😊

P.S. personal growth ain’t no rainbows and fairy dust. 🧚🏽‍♀️✨More about near breakdowns and car sobbing episodes from my experience. Just FYI in case you thought growth was supposed to be pretty. 😂🤷🏽‍♀️❤️

• A L L O W • C H A N G E •

When I was in high school I developed bad acne. Being 16, I begged Mum for help. We tried “natural medicine” and it didn’t work. Finally she allowed me to go on the pill and low dose antibiotics. Which I stayed on for 7 years.

While this approach fixed my acne, it destroyed my gut health, hormonal health and my microbiome.

In my second year studying naturopathy I knew I needed to heal my body. I couldn’t keep hurting myself for the sake of my appearance.

So, terrified, I stopped the drugs. And in 3 months my skin became a nightmare. I stopped wearing glasses unless it was for driving. I stopped looking at reflective surfaces. I stopped thinking I was beautiful.

The first pictures are from when I was still brave enough to track my progress. It got worse and I stopped taking pictures.

It got so bad I couldn’t have the spray from the shower hit my face for the pain. I had to put tissues all over my pillow at night or my face would stick to it. I’d talk or smile and my skin would crack and blood and pus would literally run down my face. It was a nightmare.

And then it started healing. With homeopathy, nutrition, healthy living and cosmetic treatments like blue light, microdermabrasion, IPL and skin needling, my skin healed.

But the big thing was TIME. Healthy living became my lifestyle. I learnt triggers that set off my acne and avoided them. I was fanatical about what I used on my skin (natural, organic, chemical free) and in my body. And I gave myself time.

12 years is a long time. Honestly my skin has been great for the last 5 years but I haven’t been ready to tell my story until now. The last 2 pics were from this week.

Going through that was one of the hardest lessons I’ve ever had. But my god it was worth it. I learnt so much about true beauty, friendship, self love, and self care. I learnt to love who I was on the inside. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

I think what I want to share is HOPE. No matter what your current circumstance, I believe things have the potential to change. We might have to work for it, but change is a constant. Sometimes it’s just about patience, persistence and allowing. ❤️
