SOTO Australasia is a non profit organisation made to help increase the understanding on Sacro Occip The occiput also helps to pump CSF.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a comprehensive, gentle and innovative technique of Chiropractic. It is so named because of the relationship between the Sacrum (base of the spine) and the Occiput (base of the skull). SOT was founded in 1925 by Dr DeJarnette and since then has continued to be studied and researched around the world. Cerebro-Spinal Fluid
One of the functions of the sacrum is to pump Cerebro-Spinal Fluid (CSF) from the base of the spine back up the spinal canal to the brain and throughout the nervous system. this minute rhythmical motion which circulates the CSF is essential to optimal health. CSF acts as the circulatory system of the brain and spinal cord. The Spine and the Pelvis
The pelvis forms the foundational support of the human skeleton. It supports the upper body right up to the skull, and enables us to transfer our weight to our legs. The spine holds our body upright, supports all of your organs and provides anchor points for our muscles. It also protects our delicate nervous system. The nervous system controls our body, and can only function normally when our structures are balanced and our pelvis is stable.

Congratulations Dr Troy Miles, the SOTO Chiropractor of the Year for 2025!

Dr Troy was presented with the Parker Bastian award by his mentor Dr Brett Houlden at the Annual Convention. Dr Georgia Miles managed to surprise him further with a trip to Qld to see Dr Troy receive this honour.

Dr Troy is a wonderful advocate for SOT, he’s a Craniopath, a Primary Educator, has served 10 years on the board, and is a mentor to chiropractors and students.

The Parker Bastian award is in honour of Drs Scott Parker and Keith Bastian, who brought SOT to Australia.

From inspiring presentations to meaningful conversations, this event had it all.

A huge shoutout to Dr Mike Marinus of our awesome presenter for the weekend. Everyone left feeling enriched and inspired.

Thank you to Dr Liz, our new SOTOA President, and MC for the event.

We celebrated successful exams, Craniopath hugs, reconnected with old friends, made new ones, and soaked up plenty of sunshine and fun along the way.

Vale Dr Keith Bastian

It is with deep sadness that SOTO Australasia announces the passing of Dr Keith Bastian, who was pivotal in bringing Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) to Australia. From the 1970s, Dr Bastian’s passion, teaching, and leadership helped establish and grow the SOT community across Australasia, inspiring generations of chiropractors and students.

A farewell service will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2pm at St Nicholas Church, 51 Brent Street, Tuncurry, NSW.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr Bastian’s family, friends, colleagues, and students. His legacy will continue through the work of all those he inspired.

This foundation course is run over 3 weekends, covering all the ground level work of Major DeJarnette.
