Habit 1

When you feel triggered by a person, word, situation, email just realize the painful emotional and physically response only lasts for about 90 seconds! So in that time don’t respond or react. You can try some deep breathing (I like box breathing- 4 in, 4 to hold, and 4 out), or movement to release stress, or blast some music really loudly and dance, sing, or scream!! When you respond when still feeling all the chemicals going crazy, you will start to build a toxic response habit in your brain and body.

The food and agriculture industries are influencing the political process and driving the policies that are counterproductive to public health, to the economy, to the climate, to social justice, to national security, and to academic achievement.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
All of these things are undermined by our food policies when the government should be creating policies that should be supporting its citizens instead of corporations. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’ve been focusing on this so much because I realized that in order to solve my patient’s problems I couldn’t do it in the doctor’s office, in the hospital, or the clinic; I had to do it at the root cause which is in the kitchen, in the grocery store, at the farm, at the seed level — all the way through the food chain.⁣

What a great post

It takes 60-90 seconds for emotions to pass through you and for the biochemical and electromagnetic responses in the brain to adjust to the incoming information, so before responding to a text or person or email remind yourself to just breathe deeply for a minute or more. Often intense emotions make us feel like we must respond and take action but you have the power to be still, which takes so much more strength but the more you practice the better you will get at it! While doing some deep breathing it may also be helpful to do some movement, focus on an object in front of you and simply describe the object in detail to yourself, or even start singing!

Dr’s advice 👌

Dr’s advice 👌

Reducing or eliminating alcohol intake lowers inflammation, which contributes to heart disease and nearly every other chronic disease.⁣

Drinking wine is like a U-shaped curve. A little bit is OK; a little more is bad news. For women, wine can be especially damaging. Why? ⁣

Increased alcohol load means your liver can’t metabolize estrogen well. Increased estrogen in the body can lead to breast cancer. ⁣

In addition, a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who consumed just two alcoholic beverages in one sitting experienced a significant decrease in fat burning two hours later. ⁣

While wine and hard liquor are okay in small amounts, beer is off limits. It’s loaded with carbs (one can of beer has about the same amount as a slice of white bread) and gluten. Sugary cocktails are also out of the question, and beer alternatives such as hard cider are not any better than beer. ⁣

No other topic is as divided as this one !

Accurate information about vaccines will help us all make informed choices. I make no claims to be anti-vac or pro-vac I am all about informed-vac. This is a great opportunity in this time of isolation to be informed and educated.

How to strengthen your Immune system!

I have received emails from many asking what to do to protect against a viral infection. Weather the common cold/flu or COVID-19 it’s all about strengthening your own natural defenses, your immune soldiers.
Apart from the foundations of good health - nourish well, sleep, movement, breathing and laughter...

Here is a list of immune modulators I am prescribing
Beta glucans from Sh*take mushrooms
(Product Lentinex)
Liposomal Vitamin C (superior absorption)
ArmaForce (a blend of herbs & zinc as the ultimate immune booster)
Engystol (traditional homeopathic for immune system)

These are all practitioner-grade and would require a script. If you would like access send your email as a PM

It’s a no-brainer Brain food = real food

It’s a no-brainer
Brain food = real food

In medical school, we’re taught the brain is immutable, that we can’t grow new brain cells or change the brain once dysfunction or injury has occurred. Now, we know that’s just not true. The decisions we make each and every day, like what we eat, how much sleep we get, and how often we move are all steps that can dramatically shift the health of the brain for the better. And there’s so much more we can do, too.⁣

A poor diet affects our brains in more ways than one. What we eat influences everything from our mood, ability to focus, and memory to our tiniest gut friends—microbes—and how well they function and fight off invaders. ⁣

Some of my favorite ways to make sure I keep my brain healthy are: ⁣
Make sure 75% of your plate is veggies.⁣
Eat plenty of healthy fats rich in omega 3s.⁣
Optimize protein — We need about 30 grams of protein per meal.⁣
Avoid sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, food additives, and preservatives.⁣
Exercise regularly.⁣
Learn to actively relax the mind.⁣
Consciously build your network of friends, family, and community.⁣

Dietary sugar - offers no health benefits and increases the risk of disease

Takeaway from Metabolic Health Summit via Marcus Gon's presentation... When glucose levels are high, insulin and therefore IGF is produced. This signaling activates the PI3K/AKT pathway which works to promote proliferation (ketosis is a PI3K inhibitor by the way)…

No matter what diet works best for you, make sure it includes tons of nourishing plant foods. ⁣

Our ancestors consumed a diverse array of veggies and plants, and you should too. Eat at least seven to nine servings of vegetables daily, or roughly four cups worth, with a focus on the slow-burning, low-glycemic veggies that pack the most nutrition. ⁣

Our ancestors didn’t have drugs or pills. They ate their medicine in the form of plants. So also consider the amount of colorful fruits and vegetables you eat. The more colors, the more anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, healing compounds from the phytonutrients you’ll soak up. Some of these colors even work together synergistically to have more powerful effects! ⁣
