Grief isn’t something to “get over” — it’s something we learn to carry, slowly and in our own time. Be gentle with yourself; healing doesn’t mean forgetting, it means finding a new way to hold what mattered. 💙

So many couples grow up believing love should just fall into place — but strong, lasting relationships are built on skills, understanding, and intentional connection.

Based on decades of research by Drs John and Julie Gottman, the Art & Science of Love workshop brings practical, evidence-based tools to the Gold Coast in 2026, facilitated by John Flanagan and Brhea Ind from Burleigh Heads Psychology and Relationship Clinic.

Over two supportive days (23–24 May or 24–25 October 2026), couples learn how to communicate better, navigate conflict well, and strengthen the friendship and emotional intimacy that sustain partnership long term.

The 'Gottman Art and Science of Love' Couples Educational Weekend Workshop. Learn practical skills to transform your relationship. Together learn how to manage conflict, build shared meaning, deepen emotional intimacy and strengthen the friendship at the heart of your relationship. Register interest...

“Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is admit that you’re human and you don’t have to do it all alone.”

Just a little reminder for anyone who might need it today.

Try this quick reset: inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4 — repeat 4 times and notice your body soften.

A simple box breath 🟩 can gently calm your nervous system and bring you back to the present in under a minute.

21/01/2026

A reminder for the week ahead:
You don’t have to solve everything at once.

13/01/2026

You don’t have to be “at breaking point” for support to be helpful.
Sometimes it’s just about having space to untangle things before they turn into big things.
That’s actually pretty good self-management.

As we begin to think about winding down soon at the clinic and take a few well-earned days off over Christmas, we wanted to gently remind you to take care of *you* too.

Here are **7 simple (and actually doable) self-care ideas for the Christmas period**:

🎄 **Lower the bar**
Everything does *not* need to be perfect. Good enough is more than enough.

🌿 **Get outside each day**
A short walk, bare feet on the grass, sunshine on your face — it all counts.

☕ **Create one small daily ritual**
Morning coffee in quiet, an evening stretch, or a few deep breaths before bed.

📵 **Have mini tech breaks**
Even an hour away from phones and news can calm your nervous system.

💬 **Say no when you need to**
Protecting your energy is not rude — it’s healthy.

😂 **Lean into moments of joy**
Laugh, play, be silly, watch something comforting — joy is medicine too.

💛 **Be kind to yourself**
If Christmas brings mixed emotions, that’s okay. You’re allowed to feel it all.

We hope this season brings moments of rest, connection, and gentleness — however that looks for you.

Take care,
The Team at Burleigh Heads Psychology & Relationship Clinic 🎄💚

🎄✨ As we slide into the silly season (and it's not called silly for nothing), a little reminder from our hearts to yours…

Be kind to yourself.
Take a breath (a real one… the deep, shoulders-drop kind).
And if all else fails, pop something fabulous on TV that makes you smile — yes, that totally counts as self-care this Christmas. 💛

Here’s to gentle moments and giving yourself a little grace.
