Point Name: Taichong (Liver 3) - "Great Rushing"
Function: This is an important point on the Liver meridian, also known as the Shu-Stream and Yuan-Source point. It is associated with the Earth element within the Liver channel.
Location: This point is situated on the top of the foot, in the valley or webbing between the big toe and second toe. Use your thumb or index finger to apply pressure between the bones. When performing acupressure, begin with light pressure, as this point may be tender. Gradually increase the pressure to moderate to firm, massaging for 1-2 minutes.
Benefits:
Liver Qi Regulation: Supports the flow of energy (qi) in the Liver meridian, helping to alleviate stress and symptoms of stagnation such as pain, mood swings, and tension.
Wind Subduing: Helps in calming the Liver and mitigating wind-related issues.
Blood and Yin Nourishment: Supports the nourishing functions of the Blood and Liver yin.
General Information: While the Liver doesn't produce qi, it plays a crucial role in maintaining a smooth and balanced flow of qi throughout the body. When Liver qi becomes stagnant, it can cause feelings of pressure, distention, and discomfort, often in areas traversed by the Liver and Gallbladder channels. Emotional expression and physical movement can help release stagnation and promote qi flow.
The name "Great Rushing" highlights this point's role in facilitating the flow of qi through the channel. It is a primary point for promoting free-flowing Liver qi and resolving stagnation that may cause pain and discomfort in various areas of the body.
