For the first time in Australia, a needle-free flu vaccine in the form of a nasal spray is available and free for children aged two to five years (before they turn 6).

It works like other nasal sprays and is given as a small spray into each nostril. It's also absorbed quickly, so even if your child sneezes afterwards, it’ll still work. Mum, Kylie, said she told Charlie all about it before taking him to get it done, so he was prepared and knew what to expect. ✅

The free nasal spray flu vaccine is available at GP clinics, pharmacies, community clinics and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services.

For children aged two to five years, you can choose whether you’d like them to have the nasal spray flu vaccine, or the usual needle flu vaccine. The needle flu vaccine is free for all Queenslanders six months and over.
