🔥APP IS LIVE🔥
-
Somethings that’s been in the works for some time now is my new training & rehab app!
-
This will serve to provide a platform for comprehensive coaching services, but will absolutely be the most integrative approach to pain & injury rehabilitation there is.
-
Apart from the ability to track workouts, access an exercise library, check-ins and technique feedback, there will be an ever growing education portal which will cover topics surrounding all things training, lifestyle and recovery.
-
As far as I’m aware, there is no one else in the rehab space providing this sort of holistic guidance, feedback and attention to detail with exercise rehabilitation for their clients. Here’s to raising the standard.

🏋🏽‍♀️ Staggered Stance RDL
-
This a great introductory movement for moving into frontal plane drills and to emphasise one side of the pelvis. It is a staple in my exercise prescription for those who struggle to find internal rotation through one of their hips and therefore bias one side which shows as a hip shift during their main lower body movements.

A simple positional breathing sequence which can be used to open up the rib cage and create alignment with the pelvis to restore an optimal zone of apposition 🫁

Fix Your Hinge 🔨
-
A movement pattern that is so often done incorrectly and further so mis taught by coaches/PTs is the hinge. The movement seems to break down as soon as it is initiated, by the pelvis being dumped into anterior tilt.
-
The fix is creating alignment of the rib cage/pelvis as well as an effective brace, combined with shooting the hips backwards in space with soft knees.
-
Try this with your next hinge based session & tag/share to others who need to see this 🤙

Part of my session with
Did a bit of everything including soft tissue massage, cupping, scraping & dry needling.
Keeping up with maintenance/recovery before pain & problems start to arise is the 🔑.

✖️The Ribcage✖️
-
Often overlooked as part of the assessment process, the ribcage is more than just protection for our vital organs. It is essential in proper breathing mechanics, working in unison with the diaphragm in ventilation. Additionally, it’s position in relation to the pelvis helps create an effective zone of apposition, which is required for an effective brace during weight lifting movements.
-
The ribcage should be able to move appropriately in a 360 degree manner, expanding with inhalation and compressing with exhalation. When this movement is compromised, problems typically present in surrounding areas of the body including the shoulders, neck and hips.
-
With majority of client presentations, one of the first things assessed is breathing strategies and ribcage mechanics, regardless of the presenting complaint. Treatment involves focused movement interventions combined with breath-work strategies to restore optimal movement. Looking at the painful or dysfunctional joint/region in isolation before doing this will likely only yield short lasting results or none at all.

Are you hinging your squat and squatting your deadlift? 🏋️‍♂️
-
An easy way to prevent this is with a counter balance squat with heels elevated. This makes it more natural to descend into the squat without creating a hinge movement at the start.
-
Tag or share to someone who you think needs to hear this 🤙

✖️”Tight” Upper Traps✖️
-
A common complaint we hear is the sensation of chronically tight upper traps, which is often associated with headaches, neck pain and general stiffness of that region. A question I often ask is “do you train it effectively, or even perform movements to use the muscle?” with 9/10 times the answer being “No”.
-
If you find yourself with this problem, start by performing slow and controlled shrugging actions with slight retraction of the shoulder blades, progressing this to low-moderate load exercises in the same manner. For a lot of people, this is enough to have a noticeable reduction in tightness and associated symptoms.
