We’re often taught to push ourselves with criticism or pressure.

Yet true motivation comes from compassion.

Today, try cheering yourself on with kindness — a gentle hand on your shoulder — instead of pushing harder with self-judgment.

Because support fuels growth far better than shame ever could.

And I really mean, everything.

Our body’s intuition is incredibly powerful, it’s up to us to learn how to trust it.

Do you trust your body?

Burnout can make you feel like you’re failing.
Like you’ve lost your spark.
Like maybe… something’s wrong with you.

But what if your body is simply doing what it was designed to do — protect you under pressure?

What if the exhaustion, numbness, or detachment isn’t personal weakness… but a nervous system that’s been in survival mode for too long?

✨ You don’t need fixing. You need remembering.

M E N T A L H Y G I E N E . . .

What if we treated our mental hygiene the same as our dental hygiene?

I often joke with clients that if you are extremely time poor you will get more bang for your buck engaging in mental hygiene rituals instead of dental hygiene.

Yes, you might have more cavities in your mouth but you will have less in your homes and workplaces.

If we can do it for our teeth surely we can do it for our minds and hearts. 💜

I' M W R I T I N G A B O O K .....

There I said it out loud, to everyone (well the few friends who read my posts 🤣)

I have been baking this book for a few years. Writing in between work, life and a significant health journey.

It is close to it's first final draft and ready to go to an editor to get reviewed.

Sharing my journey here will keep me accountable. The book is part of my programme:

L A N D I N G...

One small act that can prevent burnout is what I call landing.

When you arrive in a new space or switch task through your day, give yourself a few mindful breaths to land.

As you take the time to land you can attune to yourself. Remember attunement is attention and attention is a form of self care.

Notice what is going on for you physically and emotionally as you land. You might notice tension or some unfinished frustration from your last meeting. Just noticing is enough, you don't need to fix it. Landing only takes a few breaths (perhaps 30 seconds at a minimum and 2 minutes at a long maximum).

This landing ritual could be completed with a statement like: "I am here now" or "I allow myself to be here now" or "I am grateful to be here doing this now." As you say this you might re orient to the room you are in and notice one or two things about the environment before you re-engage with the new task.

Landing helps with transition from one thing to the next instead of being in perpetual forward motion. When you are always moving, always doing without landing you may be holding built up stress and not really being present in the next space or task.

Landing is a form of connection. Connection to your body, connection to your surroundings and connection to a new task. It helps to disperse built up emotional energy throughout your busy day.

Try it out and notice whether this helps with energy management and prevention of symptoms of burnout at home or work over your next week.

B U R N O U T....

Because of our always on culture most people are experiencing some symptoms of burnout some of the time, another group are experiencing these symptoms on a daily basis and another more concerning group live a "burnout out life" thinking this is normal.

Many of us are like fish in the water. Swimming in an ocean of busyness and not clocking the harm burnout is doing to us and those we love and lead.

Burnout is not normal. It needs treatment and support. Almost always something needs to fundamentally change within your environment on top of the internal work you need to do in order to restore your energy.

Burnout is not treated overnight. It has often formed over years and requires time and space to rewire patterns of thinking, feeling and doing that keep you stuck.

S L O W L I V I N G...

The word slow at this time of year seems a bit paradoxical. What do you mean slow? I am sprinting to the finish line. Just like everyone else. I can't slow down even if I want to!

Please reflect on a few questions in a bit of quiet time to yourself. Perhaps journal your response.

What is the cost of this speed I am moving at? Is this pace something I inherited from my culture, workplace or family? Do I want to pass this pattern on to others? Does this speed help me to uphold my deepest values? Am I really more productive when I go faster? Do I have a choice here? And if so, am I will to try something different?

Slowing down is often a form of activism against a world that asks us to be fast. How can you change one small thing a day to alter the pace of things, ever so slightly, at the moment?

If your pace is coming at a cost to you and those around you right now, what impact could you have by changing gears?
