Spent a few hours today driving up and down Moore Park Beach collecting debris washed in from the floods.

We had the Thrive 360 Support Services ute while the team from Bin Chicken Mowing had the trailer, and along the way locals stopped to lend a hand carrying heavy pieces and helping each other get the bigger jobs done. One legend even brought an ATV to drag in a huge tank lid from the sand.

Big thanks to Jason Bartels Councillor for Division 1 for organising our skip bins, Bin Chicken Mowing, Jill and every other local who pitched in today to help fill it. It’s so good to see the community coming together to help clean up our beautiful beach. πŸ’šπŸοΈπŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ’š Stay Safe Everyone πŸ’š

If anyone on the North side of the bridge needs their usual supports or everyday help during the bridge closures and flooding, please reach out.

We currently have a support worker in North Bundaberg whose regular clients are across town and unable to access him right now, so he has some time to help locally if anyone needs support.

If you or someone you know needs support or assistance during this time, feel free to message.

If your pets need a safe place to stay warm and dry please reach out to Sugarland Animal Hospital πŸ’š

FLOOD SUPPORT - FREE EMERGENCY PET BOARDING!!

We are aware with the progressing flood situation across our region that many community members may lose access to their homes.

Although we need to keep operating as an essential veterinary service for unwell patients, we will be doing our best to free up kennels and cages for pets needing somewhere safe and dry to stay temporarily.

This emergency boarding will be at no charge for the community.

Space is limited, and pets must be up to date with vaccines for the safety of our other patients, but please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate.

If you cannot access your pet’s essential medication, please also get in touch to see if we can source this for you, and we will waive any prescription or dispensing fees at this time.

If you or someone you know has a pet and is affected by the flooding situation in our community, please get in touch with our team on 4151 3550 and ask to speak with our Director Mykeala or Manager Greg, or send us a Facebook message and we will do our best to help!

Please note as always we will be offering free triage and care for injured or unwell wildlife in the community, no appointment necessary, just bring them into our hospital at 10 Heidke St, Bundaberg West.

This warning is no longer current. Get the latest weather warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology: https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and.../warnings-and-alerts

Issued: 9 am, Tuesday, 10 March 2026
Next update: as the situation changes.

Bundaberg Regional Council advises people in the following area(s):
β€’ Bundaberg North
β€’ Bundaberg East
β€’ Bundaberg South
β€’ Bundaberg Central
β€’ Branyan
β€’ Avoca

to PREPARE NOW for the major flooding on the Burnett River which will cause property inundation and isolation.

For non-life-threatening flood and storm emergency assistance, contact SES on 132500, 132500.qld.gov.au, or the SES Assistance Qld app on Android or iOS. In a life-threatening situation, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises major flooding will be occurring at Bundaberg expected to reach 7.00 m by 3 pm Tuesday, 10 March, continuing to rise to 7.5 m around 3 am Wednesday 11 March, similar to levels experienced in December 2010. When the Burnett River reached 7.00 m the Tallon and Burnett Bridges will be closed.
The Burnett River at Walla is currently at 18.56 m and rising, with major flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Be advised that:
β€’ The Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, located at 7 Kendalls Rd, Branyan (access Via Kendalls Rd), has been established as a place of refuge.
β€’ Bridges and low lying roads may be impacted by floodwater. The Tallon and Burnett Bridges will close when the Burnett River reaches 7.00 m, which is expected to be 3 pm.
β€’ Transportation may be out of service.
β€’ Safe evacuation routes are likely to be cut off. Residents should monitor Paradise Dam and Walla river gauge levels and use Council’s flood gauge mapping, accessed on the Disaster Dashboard to assess their individual flood risk.
β€’ You will become isolated until flood waters recede.

What you need to do:
β€’ If you find it hard to move quickly leaving early is safer than waiting. Call your support service, a family member, or a friend to help.
β€’ If it’s flooded, forget it. Stay out of flood water.
β€’ Decide if you, and the people you live with, will leave if floodwaters get close to your house.
β€’ If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
β€’ Be prepared to have no power. Charge mobile phones and other electronic devices now.
β€’ Get and fill sandbags and block doors to stop water getting inside. You can get sandbags from Bundaberg SES Facility, 7 Kendalls Rd, Branyan.
β€’ Use sandbags to block toilets, sinks and drains to stop sewerage backflow.
β€’ Warn family, friends, and neighbours in the area. Help others if you can.

If you decide to leave early:
β€’ Lift important things onto bed, tables, shelves or upstairs to protect them.
β€’ Lift waste containers, chemicals, and poisons up high.
β€’ Pack enough clothes, food, water, medicine, baby items (like nappies, formula) and pet food for several days. Plan not to have a fridge or microwave.
β€’ Take your pets, mobile phone charger, battery-powered radio, torch, and valuables like photos, cash, and important documents (like identification, insurance, or banking records).
β€’ Lock windows and doors.
β€’ Go to a safe place, away from flooding. This could be with family or a friend.
β€’ If you come to a flooded road, turn around and go another way. Do not drive through floodwater.

If you find it hard to move quickly or have special or medical needs:
β€’ Use your Person-Centred Emergency Plan (P-CEP) now if you have one.
β€’ Make sure you have enough medicine for at least one week.
β€’ If anyone in your house uses powered medical equipment, like a dialysis machine or ventilator, decide now where you will go in case you lose power.
β€’ Call your support person or service to organise transport if you need to leave.
β€’ Leaving early is safer than waiting.

If you are a tourist, visitor, camper or caravanner:
β€’ Campers and caravanners should start packing up now.
β€’ If you do not need to be in the warning area, leave now. Check road conditions and plan your route before you leave.
β€’ Be ready to move if the situation gets worse.
β€’ Ask the campground owners whether the site floods.
β€’ Check your surroundings of water catchments, and monitor conditions.

For more information:
β€’ Follow our local council disaster dashboard here https://disaster.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/
