🌟 Welcome to the Team, Declan! 🌟

We’re so excited to welcome Declan to our Leap Health Coastal Physiotherapy Burnie clinic! 👋💙

Born and raised in Devonport, Tasmania, Declan completed his Exercise and Sports Science and Masters of Physiotherapy degrees at the University of Tasmania, graduating in 2021 and 2025 respectively. 🎓

During his studies, he gained valuable experience across a range of physiotherapy areas — including cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological — treating a variety of complex conditions such as ACL tears, strokes, chronic heart failure, and ankle fractures.

Declan has a strong interest in neurological conditions, particularly those involving vestibular and concussion symptoms, as well as shoulder and ankle injuries. 🏑💪

Outside of work, Declan is passionate about staying active! He plays hockey throughout the winter and takes part in surf lifesaving during the warmer months — activities that have taken him across the country, including representing UTAS at UniGames in Perth and the Gold Coast. He’s also trained under Matt Poole and Ky Hurst at the Mermaid Surf Life Saving Club, and gained valuable experience as a sports trainer with the Southport Sharks. 🏖️

When he’s not helping patients or staying active, Declan enjoys hiking, cooking on the weekends, and spending quality time with friends and family. 👨‍🍳🌿

We’re thrilled to have Declan bringing his enthusiasm, knowledge, and energy to our Burnie team — be sure to give him a warm welcome next time you’re in the clinic! 🙌

🌟 Welcome to the Team, Natasha! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Natasha (Tash) Moretti to our Leap Health Coastal Physiotherapy clinic in Burnie! 👋💙

Born and raised in Burnie, Natasha recently completed her Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Tasmania, graduating in August 2025, after first completing a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science in 2022. 🎓

During her studies, Natasha gained valuable experience across both private practice and hospital settings, developing a strong foundation in physiotherapy care. She has a particular clinical interest in paediatrics and is passionate about helping children reach their full potential through movement and therapy.

Her inspiration for this field is deeply personal — having grown up with a younger brother with Down syndrome, Natasha has seen firsthand the importance of early intervention, family support, and inclusive care. This experience has driven her to continue expanding her knowledge and pursue further professional development in paediatric physiotherapy. 💜

Outside of work, Natasha loves spending time with friends and family, often outdoors along the beautiful North West Coast — whether it’s walking by the ocean or catching up over a coffee. ☕🌊

We’re so excited to have Natasha join the Burnie team and can’t wait to see the wonderful impact she’ll make in our community! 🙌

He has a special interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and loves using exercise-based approaches to support recovery and promote long-term health.

Outside of work, you’ll find Matt at the gym, out bushwalking, or playing music. 🎶🏋️‍♂️🌿

🔧 Tradies National Health Month 2025 🔧

As we kick off Tradies National Health Month, the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) is calling on tradies to prioritise their health—especially when it comes to chronic pain and injury prevention.

💬 APA Occupational Health Chair Jarryd Croxford reminds us:

“Many tradies push through chronic pain and injury daily. Left untreated, these issues don’t just impact individuals—they affect industries, housing, and infrastructure across the country.”

📊 A 2024 APA survey revealed:
✅ 9 in 10 tradies experienced a work-related injury last year
✅ Common issues include knee, back, and shoulder pain
✅ Nearly 2 in 3 worry about long-term impacts

Physiotherapists are uniquely positioned to support tradies with evidence-based treatment, pain education, and preventative care—ensuring a longer, healthier working life.

🛠️ Let's start the conversation and support the health of Australia’s tradies, the backbone of our workforce.

🔵 Chronic Pain Week | Let’s Talk About the Bigger Picture 🔵

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians live with chronic pain? It’s not just a physical experience — chronic pain can affect every part of life, including mental health, daily function, and social connection.

It’s also deeply linked to social determinants of health, such as:

🏠 Housing stability
💼 Employment and income
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Social support networks
📚 Access to education
🩺 Availability of healthcare

These factors can influence how pain is experienced and managed, and often create a cycle that’s hard to break. Chronic pain can also lead to social withdrawal and isolation, which further affects wellbeing.

At Coastal Physiotherapy, we know that policy change is essential to truly shift the outcomes for people living with chronic pain. But while we advocate for that change, we’re also acting now.

As allied health professionals, we leverage our strong community connections to build support networks around our patients — whether that’s linking in with local services, social programs, or other health professionals — because we know these wraparound supports make a meaningful difference.

This Chronic Pain Week, let’s open up the conversation, reduce the stigma, and recognise that chronic pain is more than physical — it’s personal, social, and systemic.

💙 You don’t have to navigate it alone.
