Our Pregnancy Pilates classes are designed to help you move well, feel strong and prepare your body for birth and beyond 💛

So lovely seeing some new faces in our Pilates classes lately ✨

There’s something really special about welcoming new people into our space — whether you’re brand new to Pilates or getting back into movement after a break. Watching your confidence grow week by week is why we love what we do 💛

Putting a ball (like a small Pilates or massage ball) under your back can help with lower back pain during exercise for a few key reasons:

1. Gentle support & unloading
The ball fills the natural curve of your lower back, giving light support. This can reduce pressure on sensitive joints, discs, and muscles, making movements feel more comfortable—especially if your back feels stiff or guarded.

2. Improved spinal awareness
The ball gives feedback to your body. You can feel when you’re arching or flattening too much, which helps you find and maintain a more neutral spine during exercises.

3. Encourages muscle relaxation
The pressure of the ball can help relax tight muscles (like the erector spinae or quadratus lumborum). When these muscles calm down, it’s often easier to activate deeper stabilising muscles such as the deep abdominals and pelvic floor.

4. Promotes better movement control
Because the ball is slightly unstable, your body has to make small adjustments. This gently engages core stabilisers without heavy load—ideal when you’re exercising with pain or returning after a flare-up.

5. Allows safer range of motion
For some people, exercising flat on the floor can feel too rigid or uncomfortable. The ball allows a small, supported range of movement, which can reduce pain while still allowing strengthening to happen.

6. Reduces fear of movement
Pain often makes people tense or avoid movement. The added support can make exercises feel safer and more controlled, which helps rebuild confidence in moving again.

Glute Med & Hip Adductors – Why BOTH matter 👀

We talk a lot about the outer hips… but the inner thighs deserve just as much love 💛
✨ Glute Med (outer hip)
• Stabilises the pelvis
• Keeps hips level when walking or standing on one leg
• Helps prevent knee collapse
• Supports the lower back

✨ Hip Adductors (inner thighs)
• Draw the legs toward the midline
• Assist with pelvic and hip stability
• Work closely with the core & pelvic floor
• Provide control, not just “squeeze”

🤝 The magic happens when they work together The glute med stabilises from the outside, while the adductors support from the inside. Together, they keep the pelvis balanced and the hip joint centred.

⚠️ When one dominates and the other switches off, we often see:
• Hip or groin discomfort
• Knee pain
• Pelvic instability
• Lower back overload

💡 In Pilates, it’s not about just burning the outer hips — it’s about balanced strength and control from both sides.
