As the year comes to a close, I ‘m wrapping up another full year of teaching, training, marking and assessing.

Across Yoga Flow Teacher Training and First Aid education, this year has focused on supporting students to feel and BE confident and capable in their professional roles. I’m so proud to share so many new and innovative individuals into the workforce doing what matters.

Next year, my work will continue to evolve alongside 4th year studies in Clinical Exercise Physiology, strengthening the integration of health and movement education across all programs.

Aerial Yoga feels incredibly freeing in the body light as a feather, yet fully supported and strong. This class we attended blends fitness with deep stretch and functional strength, helping you move with confidence, control, and a whole lot of joy. It was a whole lotta fun.

Aerial yoga is yoga, minus the ground. In all my years of teaching, asking students to ground their body, we were asked in these classes to bring lightness to our energy …. a whole different feeling.

When youre off the ground, your body has to constantly work out where it is in space, balance, coordination and strength so youre having a whole-body conversation. Your core and stabilisers switch on without having to “try”, and your confidence grows with every pose, flip and inversion trusting yourself = confidence!

The class format has the traditional bones of yoga with breath, control, awareness, but the silk changes the rules. Inversions feel more accessible, joints get a break, and your nervous system lights up in the best way giving you hit after hit of dopamine.

I love how it trains proprioception, balance, strength and coordination and the confidence to try new shapes and techniques.

Aerial Yoga is a whole new flavour which has fast become a favourite.

Try to:
• Limit repeated viewing of distressing footage

• Talk it out with someone safe don’t hold it alone
• Step away if you feel numb, agitated, tearful, or hyper-alert

Ever noticed how the right song can suddenly make whatever you’re doing feel smoother… calmer… more connected?
This your nervous system responding to rhythm.
When music has a steady beat what science calls rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) your brain starts syncing movement to the sound automatically. It may begin as a finger or toe tap.

Using relatable, predictable music in yoga helps your students so they don’t have to “think” so hard about yoga. Your body just knows when to move, when to breathe, and how to flow.

A steady background beat will:
    •    supports balance
    •    regulates breath
    •    reduces tension
