Hi everyone 😀

It's about time we posted something.....writing takes a lot of energy and to be honest, that stuff has been in very short supply this year lol

It's been a long year. Lots of personal stuff got in the way of life...but apparently it's all good learning....so THAT'S been fun 😶🙄

We had to make the decision earlier in the year to cut right back on making new dreads because of health issues and have instead focused on maintenance of current clients instead.

That has been wonderful, as always, to have regular catch-ups with people and to have a laugh n a chat as we play with some of their hairy bits......mmmmmm hairy bits 😁

We are now closed for the year and look forward to opening again in jan 2020, showing off some of the new things we have been working on......we are loving some of these things and hope you will too 😉😊

Wishing every one of you the very happiest of times with your families and friends over the next few days and hope you all get exactly what you need (but not necessarily what you want) in 2020 ....and beyond

So.

Contrary to the stone-cold silence from us over the past few months, we are not dead....so much yayyyyyyyy 😀

We have been busy, busy, busy making dreads, tidying dreads, repairing dreads, and most importantly, decorating dread 🤩😍

Many posts have been written over the past few months and are all swirling around in my head....the tricky bit is getting em out of my head and onto an actual post...nothing like a major deadline (ie New Years Eve) to make that happen 🙄

It has been an interesting year for the Dirty Hippys as we played in our studio with regular clients and newly-dreaded clients....so many wonderful people pass through the studio and we have so many amazing conversations and, of course, the laughs...so many laughs. It is our firm belief there can never be enough laughs 🤣😄😁

Personally, there have been a few teeny health challenges...apparently gratitude is the appropriate response to any challenges that come along (still working on THAT one lol)

We bounce back into the studio on 19th jan and are eager to see what 2019 throws our way....we have lots of incredible things planned, many of which centre around decorations for your dreads. We are very excited about these new offerings and hope some of them make their way to you guys....and not all into our dreads 💖

We hope you and yours can look back on 2018 with a smile and are as eager as we are to see what discoveries another year brings to us all

Heyyyyy...it's meeeeee!

I'm backkkkkk.....enforced holiday in hospital is over and both the Dirty Hippys are really looking forward to catching up with all our wonderful clients.

Over the next few days we will be messaging everyone who had their appointment put on hold while I was in hospital and sorting out suitable times to get you into the studio to play.

Also.....so MANY thanks to everyone for the many beautiful messages of love and support....words can't really express how much they meant to me

A quick update on everyone's favoirite Dirty Hippy...Karen...oops I mean Jennifer.

She has had a heart attack....but not your average kinda heart attack...because she is so damned special and has to do everything the hard way.

She has had the kind that only 1% of the population have .....even though her heart is perfectly healthy, an artery has just spontaneously popped off her heart and caused much "fun" for us all.

She is stuck in a hospital bed but is fine and loving the unplanned holiday even if the holiday trimmings are in short supply.

As far as SHE is concerned this has all been WONDERFUL because the ongoing breathing problems she has had for agggggggggges appear to be resolving.

Heart attack..who cares. Apparently breathing rocks lol

She has seen and greatly appreciated all your kind messages of love and suppprt and looks forward to replying to each of you individually when she is home ....hopefully this will be sometime next week.. ...and at the moment she continues to "charm" the nursing staff with her own special blend of weird and irreverent humour.

You may have noticed we havent been posting much over last few weeks......one of the Dirty Hippys has gone and got a bit broken.

She is currently living it up in Hospital and is absolutely over the moon about this situation as she laps up the amazingggg hospital "food"....deals with the x-***ed hospital gowns....goes nuts on the many, many pills they keep throwing at her and losing her mind over the ongoing battle with the hospiatl staff to leave the bloody curtains EXACTLY as they are.

Both the Hippys are a tad frustrated at this situation and are so grateful to those clients who have graciously postponed their sessions with us.....this has eased the pressure on us (which is a goooooood thing as there is a teeny tiny bit of it at the moment lol)

We look forward to being back in the studio in the next couple of weeks and applying our own special kinda Dirty Hipoy loving to your dreads

So this happened.......

I have had dreads for aggggggges now...been through the long hair and fancy updo thang. ....did the tiny undercut thingie.

Really want to go full undercut and dreadhawk......but this is as brave as I am at the moment....stay tuned lol

Am absolutely LOVING it. My energy levels are not really high at the moment and looking after my own hair is almost more than I can handle....this is ideal and I am happy they forced me to do it (don't tell them that. .....they have enough power as it is lol)

Hope you all get as much of a laugh as we quite clearly did

Is there anything more utterly miserable than washing your dreads in winter and then having them drip down your back for hours? 😢😢

Nah. Totes not. Worse thing ever. In the history of everything. Ever 😡

Dirty Hippy Dreadlocks to the rescue. Yayyyyyyyy us. Again 😆

This thing is like magic.....not only does it dry your hair in no time...it keeps contained the stupid wet and cold water so it can't dripdripdripdrip down your back 👍

It coudn't be easier to use.....shove your hair into the hat/hood thingie.....tighten it with the toggle thingie....attach to your hair dryer....turn your hair dryer on and enjoy the warm comforting air as it fills the hat/hood thingie and dries your dreads (previously shoved into the hat/hood thingie)

Your dreads will dry soooooo much faster than they would if you were letting 'em dripdripdripdrip all day ...and bonus!! You won't be cursing anything and everything as you shiver through yet another dread washing day 😄

Santo recently made lots of big life changes after 30 years in the same job....and the very 1st thing he did upon being set free was to arrange dreadlocks 😊

And not just any dreadlocks....Dirty Hippy Dreadlocks 😆💚

Santo had very short hair and he had some extensions dreaded into his hair giving him the cutest dreadhawk.....can I say cute when it's attached to a manly man? Probably not. Oops 😈😇

As usual, there was much chair sitting in the Great Chair o Dread. There was singing....there was finger stabbing with the stupid crochet hook (and some ignoring of the sobbing after the stabbing) and finally there was the smiling because ...... newly be-dreaded Santo. That's the very bestest bit.

Effective 1st July 2018, the cost of a maintenance will be $60.00 per hour. We haven't had a price increase since 1st January 2017 and feel it is time.

We spend a lot of time behind the scenes talking to other Dreadlock Artists about dreadlocks; we regularly update our skills with new courses; and we are constantly thinking of ways in which we can improve our service to you....because your dreads are as important to us as they are to you.

We look forward to your ongoing support and to seeing you in our dreadful studio soon to share a laugh, some good convo and maybe we will even hand out a lollipop or two 😊😊

Rhi came for her regular dread maintainence (and i cleverly forgot to take the before photo - despite the sign in front of me reminding me to take a before photo. It's a genuine talent and one which drives the Other Dirty Hippy crazy(er).

The finished result is lovely (as is Rhi) and didn't require too much work as Rhi comes to us quite regularly to keep her dreads looking gooooood.

These lovely little dreads are so cute and easy to live with....if longer dreads are getting too much for you, maybe consider a trim. You can't do buns or anything fancy with 'em short, but they can look really good on their own....and there are always beads etc to bling things up a bit 😆😆
