When Beverly, at St Vincent's, shared her wish for a more inviting outdoor space outside her room, our team was delighted to help bring her vision to life.

Working together with our Wellness Team, Beverly helped create a personalised garden filled with colour and warmth, transforming her daily view into something truly special.

This beautiful project has not only brightened Beverly’s surroundings but also enhanced our wider community space for everyone to enjoy.

We were truly honoured to witness a very special moment at St Mary Glowrey, as two of our much-loved residents, Aphra and Guy, renewed their wedding vows, 49 years after first saying “I do” in 1977.

Surrounded by their loving family, fellow residents and our incredible staff, Aphra and Guy reaffirmed their deep commitment to one another in a heartfelt and beautiful ceremony. It was a touching celebration and a wonderful reminder that love continues to grow stronger with time.

Congratulations to Aphra and Guy on this remarkable milestone. We wish them many more years of happiness together.

Residents and staff at Archbishop Goody Hostel came together to celebrate Waitangi Day with a special morning tea.

The celebration was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and reflect on the significance of Waitangi Day in New Zealand’s history. Residents enjoyed sharing stories, conversation and delicious treats, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the morning.

It was a meaningful way to honour the day, embracing community, culture and togetherness.

Our Ocean Star residents have been getting into the Olympic spirit in a wonderful and creative way!

As part of our Olympic Games activities, one of our talented residents took on a special sewing project, carefully stitching together strips of fabric to create beautiful runners. Then it was time to race, with plenty of laughter along the way!

Well done to everyone involved. What a fantastic way to bring Olympic energy and community spirit to Ocean Star!

Last Thursday, we came together at St Mary Glowrey’s to celebrate our Long Service Awards and recognise the incredible commitment of our people.

The morning included a formal presentation of certificates and pins, followed by morning tea, as we honoured team members reaching 5, 10, 15 years of service and beyond with Catholic Homes.

These milestones reflect the dedication, loyalty and care our staff bring to their roles every day. We are proud to acknowledge not only the years of service, but the lasting impact our people continue to make across our organisation.

Thank you to everyone who was recognised, this celebration was all about you.

Sometimes, the most meaningful care is about supporting people to do the everyday things that matter to them.

With gentle prompting and encouragement, Eugene proudly:
☕ Made his own cup of coffee
🪒 Shaved himself, just as he did each day before heading off to work
🐟 Helped refill the fish tank

These small moments support independence, confidence, and a sense of purpose, and they make a big difference in how someone feels about themselves. This is care with purpose.

January was full of delicious moments at Ocean Star!

Our residents enjoyed baking chocolate mini cupcakes decorated like flowers with Smarties, chocolate-filled banana pastries, apple cake, and more. These sessions are always a favourite, sparking fond memories of baking for family and the joy of sharing sweet treats with fellow residents and staff.

It’s not just about the baking, it’s about connection, creativity, and community.

Sometimes the simplest ideas bring the biggest smiles! 🏀

Using an improvised basketball hoop, our residents enjoyed some upper-body exercises filled with laughter and fun. One of our newest residents was pleasantly surprised by what she could achieve and really enjoyed giving it a go.

It’s moments like these that remind us how empowering movement and encouragement can be.
