I donβt often lead with this publicly, but today it feels important.
In the wake of the horrific attack in Bondi, I feel called to stand up openly and proudly as a Jew β not in defiance, but in connection.
At Honeycomb Health, one of our core lifestyle medicine pillars is connection. We know that genuine connection is one of the most powerful protectors of health and wellbeing. This image of our Christmas tree standing beside our Chanukiah, represents that connection, no matter our race, religion or ethnicity, is the way to suppress hatred.
Chanukah is a festival of light. It commemorates resistance against hatred and oppression, but it does so joyfully, through peaceful gatherings, storytelling, food, music, and togetherness.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has reminded me that even amid atrocities, there is still love, hope, friendship, and people who will stand up against hate.
In memory of those who have been affected, please reach out to those you know. Check in and connect.
Miriam
