Have you recently started running or walking more during the lockdown?

Are you experiencing foot pain or leg/foot cramps or excessive fatigue?

Don't worry! You're not the only one! πŸ™Œ

Foot and leg pain can occur from multiple reasons. A very common issue we are seeing these days from working at home is the exacerbation of tight and stiff muscles in the lower limb and feet. This may reduce your ability to tolerate increased pressure from different exercises, and may also increase your risk of injuries.

Other reasons may include incorrect running/walking technique or wearing poorly fitted shoes.

❗TIPS ❗

1️⃣ Warm up before you start exercising and stretch after you finish.

2️⃣ Set reasonable goals for yourself when exercising based on your own fitness level.

3️⃣ Keep moving around the home and take regular breaks away from your screen/work if possible.

4️⃣ Wriggle your toes and circle your feet while sitting down regularly.

5️⃣ Rest if you're experiencing pain.

6️⃣ Seek professional help if pain does not subside.

At Burwood Podiatry, our podiatrists will be able to help you with your problems. If you have any questions or would like to make a booking, contact us on (02) 9701 0477 or jump onto www.burwoodpodiatryclinic.com.au for online bookings.

πŸ‘‰ Do you know what corns are?

βœ” Corns are a very common skin condition. They are small hard thickening of the skin. Most of the time, corns develop from unwanted pressure and force on the feet.

βœ”Corns can be found on the soles of the feet, balls of the feet or in between toes. Often these tiny corns can cause immense amount of discomfort when walking or standing. 😒😒

βœ” Anyone can develop corns however it is commonly found in the elderly. Those who are always on their feet are more prone to corns as well.

βœ” Our clinic offers a variety of short and long term solutions to manage your corns. πŸ‘πŸ‘

βœ” For immediate relief, we recommend podiatry treatment where the corn is removed. Contrary to popular belief, corn pads are not recommended when treating corns, especially if you have fragile skin.

βœ” Corns often develop from poorly fitted shoes. Assessment of your footwear and adjustments can help to manage corn formation.

If you're experiencing any foot pain, please contact us on (02) 9701 0477 or book an appointment online and one of our friendly podiatrists will help you out! 😊

πŸ™Œ We are excited to introduce our newest treatment option at Burwood Podiatry! πŸ™Œ

❗Shockwave Therapy❗

βœ” Shockwave therapy is an innovative tool that helps to address chronic musculoskeletal conditions that have not responded to other treatments. It has shown to stimulate collagen regeneration to the damaged soft tissue.

βœ” This treatment is non-invasive and safe. The best part of it? There is no post-treatment down time! It has been successfully used in many sport clinics and athletes!

βœ” Who can benefit from this? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
1️⃣Those who want the latest technology for recovery and rehab of their foot or ankle issues.

2️⃣Those who want to quickly get back into running from previous injury.

3️⃣Those who experience pain when standing up or walking.

For more information, please contact us on (02) 9701 0477.

πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ Looking for a new pair of shoes? Are your current shoes worn out or uncomfortable?

⁉️ Nowadays, we have so many options out there for shoes. It can be overwhelming and confusing to choose the right shoe. So where do we begin? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ“’ There is a quick test you can do to see if the shoes are suitable for your feet. It's called the 1-2-3-4 test.

1️⃣ Heel squeeze test. Give the heel a good squeeze. It shouldn't give way when you press on it.

2️⃣ Toe bend test. If you were to bend the toe area of the shoe, it should not be too bendy nor too rigid.

3️⃣ Twist test. Try to twist the front and the back of it shoe. The shoe should be quite firm when you attempt this.

4️⃣ Fit test. Make sure the shoes have enough width and depth for your feet. You wouldn't want your feet to be cramped inside or slip out of the shoe easily.

❕Remember, it is important to choose footwear appropriate for the activity you will be undertaking. For example, if you are planning to go for walks, it is important to select shoes that are adjustable, cushioned and supportive such as sneakers or walking shoes. πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘ž

πŸ‘‰If you need some help with footwear advice or shoes specifically for your activity, we are here to help.

πŸ‘‰If your current shoes are uncomfortable or you're unsure what to do next? Don't hesitate to get in touch with our podiatrists.

DM or call us on (02) 9701 0477.

πŸ‘€ Tired of staring at the same four walls everyday? Feeling trapped indoors? Losing focus? πŸ‘€

πŸ‘‰ You're not the only one! It's time to take a break! πŸ™Œ

πŸ‘£Walking is the best exercise for your feet and overall fitness. Not only does it boost your blood circulation, it reduces your risk of developing chronic conditions and strengthens your bones and muscles. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ’₯ Did you know walking can also help our brain function? Any form of aerobic exercise such as walking pumps more blood around our body. This helps to improve the flow of oxygen and energy to your brain, boosting it's function, your concentration and improves your mood. πŸ’₯

🌞 Have a break from those screens. Put on those walking shoes and head outside for a walk. It's a beautiful day outside. You'll feel refreshed afterwards. 😊

πŸ‘‰ Babies are born with flat feet and they remain flat until approx 4-5 years of age.
πŸ‘‰ In most cases, children usually develop arches in their feet at this age.
πŸ‘‰ Some children do not develop arches at all. It does not necessarily mean that there is a serious concern.
πŸ‘‰ Flat feet may not cause any pain and in this case, this can be monitored.
πŸ‘‰However, flat feet needs to be treated when the foot is painful. Treatment differs depending on the person, their lifestyle and other circumstances.
πŸ”΄ Symptomatic flat feet will also need to be assessed further to see if there are any bony problems associated with this condition.

πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ If your child complains of foot pain, trips often and is over 5 years old, it may be worthwhile to have their feet assessed by a podiatrist.πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ’₯ Keep your child's feet pain free and healthy. πŸ’₯
