Did you know you can access birth debriefing under non-directive pregnancy counselling.

This can be accessed Australia wide through telehealth, or if you live in South West WA face to face appointments are available.

If your birth felt traumatic, confusing, or overwhelming — you're not alone. Maybe your experience didn't go to plan and you need to speak with someone to debrief in a safe non-judgmental space.

💬 Non-directive pregnancy counselling includes:
✔ Talking through your birth story
✔ Emotional support
✔ Making sense of what happened
✔ Gentle, non-judgmental care

🩺 And it's often covered under Medicare for the first three sessions (MBS Item 81000–81010 in Australia)

🌿 You don’t have to carry your birth experience alone.
Reach out. You might be eligible for rebated sessions DM us for more info - Australia Wide and can be done over telehealth.

Journaling as a New Mum: A quiet act of self-care, a future gift of reflection. ✍️

In the whirlwind of nappies, feeds, sleepless nights, and big emotions — it’s easy to lose your sense of self.
Journaling is more than writing. It’s a way to pause, to breathe, and to hold space for everything you're experiencing.

Because the truth is…

🧠 Your brain is holding SO much.
💗 Your heart is stretching in every direction.
🧍‍♀️ And you, the woman beyond the mother, deserve time, deserve reflection and deserve to process your thoughts and feelings.

When you take just a few minutes to write down your thoughts — no matter how messy or emotional — you’re saying:
🌸 I matter too.

Journaling helps by:
Make sense of your evolving identity

Capture raw, beautiful memories before they blur
Track your Journey — emotionally, physically, spiritually
Find your voice

And one day — when your baby is grown, when the house is quiet — these pages will become treasure.

📖 A record of how deeply you loved.
📝 How fiercely you tried.
💬 How fully you became you through motherhood.

Start small. One sentence. One feeling. One moment.

✨ You don’t need perfect words — just your truth.

Overstimulation.
I didn’t even know it was a thing—until I became a mum.
Before kids, I never experienced it. I had no idea how loud, how intense, how constant life could feel.

Then motherhood arrived, and with it came a whole new world of noise, chaos, and responsibility I never saw coming:

🔊 The relentless noise—crying, cartoons, toys that talk when no one touches them.
🧸 The never-ending clutter—stepping over blocks, dolls, and laundry piles just to get to the kettle.
🙋‍♀️ The constant questions—"Mum, where’s my...?", "Mum, can I...?", "Mum, why is the sky blue?"
🍼 The round-the-clock needs—feeds, snacks, cuddles, baths, and more snacks.

It’s not just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and sensory.
A feeling of being touched out, talked out, and totally maxed out.
You feel like every part of you is being pulled in a hundred directions at once.

And the hardest part?
I didn’t recognise it at first. I just thought I was failing. I was loosing myself, to myself.
I was snappy, exhausted, overwhelmed.
I didn’t feel like me anymore—and I didn’t understand why.
But now I know: I wasn’t broken. I was overstimulated.
I still get overstimulated but i deal with it in different ways.

If you’re feeling this too, as a caregiver —you’re not alone.
It doesn’t mean you’re a a terrible caregiver or mum.
It means you’re human.

Take the break. Sit in silence. Put your phone down. Say no. Enjoy your hobby.
Make Time.
You don’t have to be “on” all the time.
You deserve peace too.

You're doing amazing. Even if you can’t remember what day it is. 💪

🌼 GPs: Are Vital in Supporting New Parents After Birth 🌼

Welcoming a baby is a profound transition—and GPs are uniquely positioned to offer early, trusted support.

💬 Here’s how GPs can help:

✔️ Ask the hard questions. Gently explore emotional well-being at postnatal check-ups—not just physical recovery.
✔️ Normalise mental health support. Reassure new parents that postnatal anxiety, depression, and overwhelm are common—and treatable.
✔️ Refer early. Timely referrals to counselling or specialised services can make a world of difference.
✔️ Look beyond the baby. Acknowledge the parent’s identity, sleep, support systems, and emotional health.
✔️ Follow up. Continuity of care builds trust and helps spot subtle signs of distress over time.

🌱 With GP guidance, new parents can access the care they need—without shame or delay. Make an appointment to see your GP today and ask for a referral to "non-directive pregnancy counselling"

✨ Let’s make mental health a routine part of postnatal care.

Setting Boundaries as a New Mum - Your peace matters too.
One of the most common guilt provoking themes i come across with new mums is their anxiety and reluctance to set boundaries.

Remember this:

👶 You’re not being rude.
You’re protecting your energy, your baby, and your recovery.

💬 It's okay to say:
“We’re not ready for visitors yet.”
“Please wash your hands before holding the baby.”
“I’m not up for advice right now.”
“I need rest — not company.”

💗 Boundaries are a form of self-care and love.
You’re not just caring for your baby — you’re caring for yourself.

✨ From Womb to World — You’re allowed to protect your space.
