THE STANDARD YOU ACTUALLY LIVE BY.

Most men have two standard.

The one they talk about...
and the one they actually live by.

The first sounds like:

"I want to be lean."
"I value my health."
"I'll get back into shape."

The second is quieter.

It shows up in:

- Skipped sessions.
- Late meals.
- Negotiated decisions.
- Belly fat that slowly stays.

Not because of laziness.

Because that's the standard currently being accepted.

And here's the uncomfortable part.

Your results don't follow your intentions.

They follow your standards.

The ones you actually live by.

Once I saw that clearly, it changed how I approached everything.

Where do you think your real standards sits right now?

THE "ALL OR NOTHING" PATTERN.

Most men don't struggle with belly fat because they lack discipline.

They struggle with belly fat because they lack discipline.

They struggle with how they apply it.

It becomes "all or nothing".

- Locked in for a few weeks.
- Training hard.
- Eating clean.
- Focused.

Then work ramps up, stress increases and routine breaks.

And instead of adjusting.....everything drops.

Not because they don't care.

Because the approach doesn't allow for real life.

So it only works when conditions are perfect.

And for most high-performing men, conditions are rarely perfect.

That's why it feels inconsistent.

Not a discipline issue.

A rigidity issue.

Have you noticed that pattern before?

This one is for anyone going through a tough time/season right now. Life has a way of testing us when we least expect it, and at times it can feel overwhelming. But remember this — your story isn’t finished, and your strength runs deeper than you think.

Every setback is an opportunity to rise, learn, and come back stronger. Don’t let the hard moments define you; let them refine you. Keep pushing, keep believing, and keep showing up, even when it’s hard. You haven’t come this far to give up now. Dig deep, stay the course, and trust that better days are ahead.

THE "MORE EFFORT MISTAKE".

Most men respond to belly fat the same way.

They try to increase the effort.

- Train harder.
- Eat stricter.
- Be more disciplined.

It works briefly.

- Then work ramps up.
- Stress increases.
- Routine breaks.

And they're back to where they started.

Not because they lack discipline.

Because effort was never the issue.
The real issue?

The approach requires too much from a life that's already demanding.

So it only works when life is calm.

And for most high-perforning men.

Life isn't calm.

That's why it feel like a cycle.

Not a failure of discipline.

A mismatch of design.

Have you ever felt like your plan only works when life is quiet?

THE HIDDEN COST OF "I'LL SORT IT LATER."

There's a phase many men sit in for years.

"I'll sort it later."

- Later, when work slows down.
- Later, when things are less intense.
- Later, when life opens up.

SO the belly fat stays.
Energy stays slightly off.
Standards quietly adjust.

Not dramatically.

Just enough to be tolerable.

That's the problem.
Because nothing forces change.

- You're still performing.
- Still producing.
- Still showing up.

SO "later" keeps moving.

And what started as temporary becomes familiar.

Not because you chose it.

Because you adapted to it.

Most men don't fail to change.

They delay it long enough that it becomes their normal.

What have you been telling yourself you'll fix "later"?

WHY "GETTING BACK ON TRACK' KEEPS FAILING.

Most men don't struggle with body fat because they lack discipline.

They struggle because they keep trying to return to a version of life that no longer exists.

- Less responsibility
- More time.
- More flexibility.

So the plan becomes:

"I'll just get back on track."

- Train like before.
- Eat like before.
- Push like before.

But your current life has different demands.

- More decisions.
- More pressure.
- Less margin for error.

So what happens?

You start strong...then life interrupts.

And it feels like inconsistency.

But it's nor.

It's a mismatch.

Between your current identity and an outdated approach.

That's why the cycle repeats.

Have you ever felt like your old system just doesn't fit anymore?

THE PATTERN I STARTED SEEING.

Something interesting happens when men talk about belly fat.

Almost everyone says the same thing.

"I just need to get back into routine."

Not start.

Back.

- Back to when they trained consistently.
- Back to when energy felt higher.
- Back to when their waistline was different.

The capability usually isn't the issue.

Most men have already proven they can get lean.

The pattern is different.

- Responsibility increases.
- Workload increases.
- Cognitive load increases.

And the routines that worked at 28, don't fit the life they're living at 38 & beyond.

So they keep trying to return to an old structure.

An old schedule.
An old rhythm.

Meanwhile the belly fat slowly becomes the signal that something in the system no longer fits.

Not lack of discipline.

Just a mismatch.

Have you ever noticed that shift?

THE STANDARD YOU QUIETLY ACCEPT.

For a long time, i told myself it was circumstantial.

- Busy quarter.
- Heavy workload.
- Late nights
- (For many of you, you could also add your kids needing attention).

And all those things are real.

But eventually I had to ask a harder question.

Was this still a season...
or had it quietly become my standard?

Because when something is circumstantial, you wait for life to calm down.

When it becomes standard, you're tolerating it.

For me, the signal was subtle.

A little more belly fat than before.
A shirt sitting slightly differently.
Energy that wasn't quite as sharp.

Nothing dramatic.

That's the tricky part.

It's easy to normalise small drift when everything else in life is working.

Until you realise you've simply adapted to it.

At what point does "busy" quietly becomes baseline?

THE COMPETENCE TRAP.

High performing men are dangerous in one way.

We can function at 70%.

- Still lead.
- Still meet deadlines/close deals.
- Still provide.

So when body fat creeps up.....
we don't panic.

Because we're still competent.

THAT'S THE TRAP!!

You don't feel urgency.
You feel "manageable."

- You adjust your shirt.
- Loosen the belt one notch.
- Train "when it makes sense."

And life keeps rewarding you professionally.

So there's no IMMEDIATE consequence.

Just a quiet awareness.

"I'm not operating at my best."

Most men don't struggle because they're incapable.

They struggle because they can tolerate 'less-than' for a long time.

Have you ever noticed how capable men delay fixing what they could easily change?

THE INVISIBLE THRESHOLD.

Most men don't notice body fat gain when it happens.

Because it doesn't happen loudly.

It's 1-2% at a time.
A tighter shirt.
Avoiding certain angles in photos.
Standing slightly differently.

You're still functioning.
Still producing.
Still leading.

So it feels insignificant

But here's what's interesting:

- Body fat isn't just physical.

It changes how you carry yourself.
How long you hold eye contact.
How you enter a room.

Nothing dramatic.
Just subtle shifts in certainty.

And high-performing men feel that.

Not because they're vain.
Because congruence matters.

When your external standard rises
but your physical standard slips, there's friction.

Most men tolerate that friction longer than they admit.

When did you first notice yours?
