In the clinic I often guide parents through Qi Gong Sensory Massage technique to assist their child’s nervous system. It’s a gentle, rhythmic touch technique that helps disperse and recalibrate Qi in the body following the meridian lines.

I often see those kids who struggle to switch off start yawning and settling into their bodies. This helps with their ability to participate in conversations and follow instructions in our sessions.

With a background in Chinese medicine and acupuncture I love to teach parents how to incorporate Qi Gong sensory massage into their daily routine, especially around key transitions like getting ready for school or bed time can assist with calmer mornings, more settled evenings and thereby greater wellbeing for the whole family system!

As an occupational therapist, I feel so lucky to be in this profession, where I get to witness incredible transformations and resilience.

I try to engage clients wherever they’re comfortable; in the clinic, at home, or in schools. Having access to creative and diverse spaces allows me to develop a better understanding of my clients. Each client’s unique circumstances, shaped by their background and experiences, guide my approach in breaking barriers through occupational therapy.

🌿 Medicare Rebates - Health Care Plans 🌿

I am really excited to share that Medicare rebates are available for care plans through your local GP! This is something I am really great full to offer at In Bloom OT, ensuring that everyone can have access to occupational therapy.

Becoming an Occupational Therapist felt like it was written in the stars for me. It took a while, but the journey got there, and I feel like I am in the right place, right time. I’ve worked hard though, and I continue to dedicate most of my alone time to research and improving how I can best serve my clients. One of the key reasons I was drawn to this profession is the opportunity to work with a diverse range of social and economic backgrounds. As someone who grew up with a single mum and has a creative background, I understand how tight things can be at times.

If you or your child need help with motor planning (whether fine or gross motor skills), executive function, ADL’s, self regulation or require a health care plan, please do not hesitate to reach out. I also offer a financial sliding scale to ensure that therapy is accessible to everyone.

To set up a health care plan for OT sessions, please visit your local GP. Provide them with my full name, phone number, and address, which you can find on our website.

www.inbloomot.com

From there, your GP can create a consultation and get the process started.

Remember, you are not alone in this journey. Reach out, and let’s work together towards better health and well-being.

Functional Capacity Assessment and Reports is a big aspect of being an OT.

Completing functional capacity assessments and compiling all the necessary knowledge into meaningful reports is a huge passion of mine. It’s an incredible gift and experience to tell someone’s unique story through these assessments.

Gathering all the essential information and utilising our tools to work with the NDIS helps create a plan aimed at improving someone’s life. This process is a highly practical and crucial aspect of being an Occupational Therapist.

I dedicate one to two days each week solely to writing these reports, ensuring they are thorough and impactful.

This photo is one of my most cherished memories from hiking over the summer in the beautiful wilderness of Tasmania with my partner. There’s something magical about immersing ourselves in nature that deeply nourishes our bodies and minds. I’ve always noticed how revitalised I feel after spending just a few hours, or even days, surrounded by of nature.

I grew up in the depth of the FNQ forest, and I believe my nervous system requires constant connection to stay truly grounded, connected to my emotional body and well being. Time spent outdoors can truly transform our nervous system and boost serotonin levels, I know it leaves me feeling happier and more regulated.

As an Occupational Therapist, I always strive to incorporate nature-based therapy into my practice whenever possible. The benefits of nature on our mental and physical well-being are profound and far-reaching. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a hike in the mountains, or simply sitting in your garden, spending time in nature can significantly improve our health.

I encourage everyone to find moments, big or small, to embrace the healing power of nature and the benefits of getting our hands into the soil.

Starting my journey in Occupational Therapy, I spent 5 years as a support worker during my studies. This hands-on experience taught me the importance of understanding each client’s unique needs and intricacies in their home and community. I believe it laid the foundation for my OT career, making me a more compassionate and effective therapist in the clinical setting and aiding my understanding of NDIS.

Working as a support worker highlighted different areas of the NDIS, how and where supports can change someone’s life. This has hugely influenced my report writing, goal setting, and working within the NDIS system.

Building relationships with clients was incredibly rewarding. Witnessing their progress firsthand and knowing I played a part in their journey affirmed my commitment to this field. Every success story, no matter how small, reminded me of the vital role the NDIS play in so many lives.

Now, as a fully qualified Occupational Therapist, I bring my practical experience and passion to work

Solomon Angel, our gentle giant therapy dog at In Bloom OT Services, is a loving & beautiful big sweetie.

A cross between a Great Dane and a wolfhound, Solomon was rescued as a puppy from the Northern Rivers floods.

He has since grown into a source of comfort and joy for our clients. Whether he’s playing games, chasing toys, or sitting quietly for some soothing pats, Solomon’s presence brings endless happiness.
