October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with 9 people losing their lives to the disease every day. Every year over 21,000 people in Australia (including around 200 men) will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
If you notice any symptoms or changes in your breasts, it is important that you see your doctor without delay so that any changes can be checked. Early detection gives the best possible chance of survival if you are diagnosed with breast cancer.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month – Bowel Cancer is Australia’s second deadliest cancer.

Bowel cancer claims the lives of 101 Australians every week (5,276 people a year) – but it’s one of the most treatable types of cancer when detected early.

280 Australians will be diagnosed with bowel cancer this week (14,534 people a year).

While the risk of bowel cancer increases significantly with age, the disease doesn’t discriminate, affecting people of all ages. Free bowel screening kits are available for people 45-74.
