You will know the Ancients when you meet them. You will recognize them. They are the ones who lead by example. They are the courageous ones. They are the furious ones. They are the singing ones. The ones with otherworldly eyes. The ones who make you dance in their aliveness.

Some come wrapped in furs and skins. Some wear feathers in their hair. Some come dancing in with jingling swinging hips, in waving, silky fabrics from the Orient.

The Ancient ones smell like campfire smoke, or exotic flowers. Some smell like the sea, briny and wild with sand on the scalp. Some burn hot, like the lava.

Even in the most gentle of Ancients, is something fierce and mighty. It keeps them humble. It keeps them true.

Most Ancients are not easygoing. They died brutally too many times to take the medicine they carry lightly. They do not throw their diamond tears to those who dare not weep themselves to the rivers of peace.

The Ancients are deities-in-training, soon to be in practice. They are the new gods and goddesses emerging from the primordial waters of the red sea. Most of them insist that they are human; they do not want to frighten off the children they have sacrificed themselves to heal, to feed, to love. Hundreds of thousands of lifetimes over, they have died to help you now. Today.

They wear an invisible mantle of Divine Authority. They are spiritual royalty, and to them your suffering is an insult to the Kingdom to which all of us belong.

What might you learn from being loved correctly, just one time? What might you learn if you put down the armor, the sword, the bounty of your suffering, for even just one moment? What would happen if you stripped down to your nakedness, opened your arms and your chest to the wind and the sun?

The Ancients remember, and they follow this great out-breath across time, across space. They use the sun as their North Star.

You’ll know the Ancients when you meet them. They are the ones leading by example. Keep open your eyes; seek them out. When they show themselves to you, make your offering, and see.

Womben

We were forced to forget the life giving and prophetic power we hold within us sisters.

When we hold and grow life within us ~ we are intrinsically connected to the Spirit World. Our babes Spirit sits with the Ancestors until it’s physical body is birthed into this Earthly plane. We are directly connected by a cord of light.

When we bleed instead of carrying life ~ we shed the blood of Humanity and open the gateway between this world and that which lies in the unseen.

Our blood and our birthing has always been powerful.

We have always been powerful.

Why do you think 98% of Womben birth in hospitals? Why do you think we are told our blood is dirty and should be hidden shamefully.

To keep you disconnected from the truth of your INHERENT POWER my sisters.

Reclaim your strength.

Earth Mother

Trees are AMAZING….I literally LOVE them!!

I have worked hard and sacrificed SO much to get here. I deserve these magical moments and I am beyond grateful to behold them and soak in their significance.

On this day and every day.

May we bring more love, more honour, more respect and more recognition to all mothers for the work of birthing human kind.

May we mother with more insight and strive to do better than those that came before us.

May we forgive the mothers who have passed down generational wounds, and praise the mothers who are setting boundaries to keep our hearts and our children safe, as we do the work of healing.

May we honour mothers who mother children not born from their own womb, but love them all the same.

May we respect non child bearing mothers for the new ways forward they birth into the word, for these women make it possible for other women to travel forward.

May we begin to rebuild the village we all so desperately long for, suffer without and will again thrive within.

International day of the Midwife

5th of May

I feel the tide turning.

I feel the shift in our collective consciousness.

The time of greed, colonisation, power over, serving institutions that benefit the 1%, lust and hunger for the superficial, the attainment of perpetual youth...I feel it starting to dwindle.

The time of the wise woman is again returning.

I see the veil being lifted and the truth being told.

I see women speaking out and calling out I feel the awakening and recognition of I know that is now.

For all midwives, birth keepers & wisdom holders, we are being called to take a stand and once again serve our communities with our truth, our knowledge and our skills.

To reclaim what was once taken from us.

Ohh yes. It. Was. Taken.

Womens ability to trust in their bodies, trust their ability to birth their babies, trust their intuition, to trust each other.

Together we can and we will be the change.

We are not in competition with each other. We have all experienced a unique journey that has led us to where we are and to be offering what we offer.

When we move towards collaboration, support & lifting each other we will not continue to carry the competition & scarcity mindset that has been imposed on women and adopted as truth.

As we begin to remember how to truely support one another again, how to embody our feminine essence, we will understand that we are not in competition with each other.

You are not me. I am not you.

We may offer similar services or teachings but what you bring to your classes, treatments & support is so different to what I bring to mine. The knowledge you interpret and impart is unique to you, and mine to me.

We are all here to learn and teach. Support and be supported. Love and be loved.

Let’s rise together.

Wow...reading this is shocking...but then again, not really. Our health care system is broken.

Women need to be more informed. They need to be seeking information and midwives who are able to provide them with the support they need.

Our hospitals are under staffed and midwives are overworked.

I want to help avoid the trauma and cascade of intervention for women who do not need it. We need a change.

Doesn’t even come close. I have been following the journey of Birth Time for the past couple of years and finally took the time to go see it tonight.
If we stand together collectively we CAN make this change.

We would like to properly introduce you all to our official poster.⠀
⠀
We could try and explain the process of how we landed with this incredible piece of art as our poster, but let’s just say that when we realised this was it, we just knew. ⠀
⠀
On the contrary, when we showed our idea to several industry professionals, their feedback was that it doesn’t ‘look’ like a true movie poster. That made us all the more resolved to use it. ⠀
⠀
This water colour painting is the beautiful work of Yumi Takahashi- if you’ve been following us for any period of time you will know that Yumi is one of the women we follow in our documentary. We interviewed Yumi several times throughout her journey of bringing her second baby into the world. She had a lot to process throughout this pregnancy, and like many an artist, explored the depths of her thoughts and feelings through her paint brush in a prolific manner. ⠀

This piece of work, along with a sister piece, were exhibited at the Ravenswood Art Prize and the Mosman Art Prize, and the two artworks are now proudly owned by members of the Birth Time team. ⠀
⠀
Something else we would like to proudly point out is the little M on the bottom right of the poster. Our official classification has come back as an M- which we are thrilled with given that we have splendidly naked women birthing babies out of their splendidly naked bodies in our film- something we have been called ‘brave’ for showing. Interesting, really. Regardless, we are very happy this didn’t bump us into a higher rating, therefore excluding an important demographic of viewers- late teens. ⠀

Supporting local artists is one of our pledges at Birth Time, and we could not be happier to have this exquisite piece of art representing our film. Thank you, Yumi, for all of your involvement in this journey, not least of all for this incredible contribution. ⠀
