☀️ What a difference a few days can make!

After all that rain, how wonderful has it been to see the sun shining again? The beautiful winter sunshine has been a welcome reminder of the simple things that can help us feel better.

A little sunshine means a little extra vitamin D, fresh air, and an opportunity to get outside, stretch your legs, and soak up some warmth. It's good for the body, good for the mind, and can help support our wellbeing during the colder months.

At Lotus Palliative Care, we know that wellbeing comes from both the big things and the little things. We hope you're enjoying this glorious sunshine as much as we are.

As we move into cold and flu season, it’s a gentle reminder to slow down and take care of yourself and to check in on those around you 🤍

A warm bowl of homemade soup, cosy blankets, extra rest, and a simple phone call or visit can make all the difference to someone feeling vulnerable or alone.
For many people living with illness, winter can be especially challenging.
Small acts of care and connection matter more than we realise.

Please remember to:
✨ Keep warm
✨ Stay hydrated
✨ Nourish your body with healthy, hearty meals
✨ Rest when needed
✨ Check in on elderly family members, neighbours, and loved ones

At Lotus Palliative Care, we’re here to support our community with compassionate care, comfort, and connection throughout every season.

🧡 National Palliative Care Week
Getting to the heart of it — Big questions. Real answers.

This week is about opening conversations, sharing knowledge, and helping people better understand palliative care and the support available.

As part of National Palliative Care Week, we invite anyone interested in learning more about dementia and palliative care to explore an important discussion from Palliative Care Australia featuring special guest lecturer Dr Michael Chapman.

Dementia is now Australia’s leading cause of death in older people, and Dr Chapman believes we may have been thinking about dementia care the wrong way. His lecture explores what we’re missing, why it matters, and what we can do differently to better support individuals and families.

📍 Live Stream Lecture

If this is something close to your heart — whether personally, professionally, or through caring for a loved one — we encourage you to tune in.

You can find the article by Dr Michael Chapman and registration link to the live talk via the Palliative Care Australia website or link below.

National Palliative Care Week 🤍
Getting to the heart of it: Big questions. Real answers.

This week is about opening up conversations that truly matter.
Palliative care is often misunderstood or spoken about too late—but it’s not just for the final days. It’s about living well, your way, with the right support, at any stage of a life-limiting illness.
As Australia’s population ages and the need for care grows, these conversations have never been more important. Palliative care is for people of all ages—including children and young people—and can provide comfort, dignity, and support when it’s needed most.

This year’s themes remind us:
• Living well your way
• Conversation changes everything
• The heart of care

Starting the conversation can feel hard—but it can also bring clarity, comfort, and connection.
At Lotus Palliative Care, we’re here to provide compassionate, honest support every step of the way.

National Palliative Care Week 2026 - 10th - 16th May

Every day in Australia, over 450 people across the age spectrum die of a life-limiting illness. Every one of them could benefit from palliative care – care that is their human right, care that can enrich their final days, and care that too many people still miss out on.

With the support of the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, National Palliative Care Week (NPCW) opens conversations, raises awareness, and advocates for better access to and acceptance of palliative and end-of-life care.

Getting to the heart of it. Big Questions. Real Answers.

The campaign aims to make palliative care easier to understand by encouraging honest questions and offering clear, human answers. The campaign is expressed through three supporting themes:

Living well, your way – focusing on comfort, quality of life, and staying connected to what matters.
Conversation changes everything – showing how starting the conversation can reduce uncertainty and support better planning and care.
The heart of care – highlighting care that feels personal, safe and respectful for individuals and families.

Lets get the conversations going.
