CLINIC UPDATE!

For those of you who know us well you know it’s been a HUGE year for the Exhale physio team. The first wonderful piece of news is that is pregnant and will be taking a break at the end of the year to spend some precious time with her new baby 😍😍

Many of you also know that Ruth is working through her PhD and has increased her teaching load so she can help develop the women’s health physios of the future. In addition to this, Ruth is having her own pelvic surgery in November, and will practice what she preaches and take time off to fully recover.

With all these exciting and challenging things we have made the decision to close the clinic in late November. We will reopen in late January in a new location ready to take care of you again.

Thank you all so much for your love over the last couple of years, and thank you for supporting us while our families expand (Carly) and we take care of our health (Ruth)

New post coming shortly with the 2025 clinic location. Our contact details will remain the same ###x

45 laps today and grateful for everyone of them!

On this birthday I’m thinking of the women affected by ovarian cancer. 75% of diagnosis are in late stages when it’s often too late.

and her team are working tirelessly to develop an early detection test for ovarian cancer, and they hope to have it in clinics within 2 years.

Posted • Pelvic muscles in spasm are painful!

This paper from our team looks at the subject of physiotherapy for persistent pelvic pain and muscle overactivity. Just like spasms of the back muscles are a major contributor to back pain after an injury, the same process occurs in the pelvis.

The injury may be endometriosis inflammation, bowel issues or even a primary muscle problem. Painful s*x, bladder irritability and bowel issues are all likely symptoms.

Excellent work from Ruth, Sophia and Becky to bring this together and start the conversation. Ruth is now doing a PhD in the area and keep your eyes peeled on this space.

So much more to learn!

March is Endometriosis awareness month - a condition close to Exhale physio’s heart 💛

One in 7 people assigned female at birth will have endometriosis by the time they are 44-49 with many symptoms starting in the teenage years

People with endo can suffer debilitating period pain, bladder symptoms, bowel symptoms, s*xual pain, fatigue and bloating

Thanks to the incredible work of those who suffer with the disease and the clinicians, researchers and groups who support them, there is much greater awareness of around endo and people no longer need to suffer in silence

Ruth is currently undertaking her PhD to investigate how physio treatments can help people with endo. Stay tuned with more info on her work!

A few updates around the clinic!
1. This week Ruth started her PhD at Bond University, and will spend the next 4+ years investigating physiotherapy interventions for persistent pelvic pain.
2. The wonderful is getting married in 3 weeks! If you need an appointment make sure to book prior to her going on her honeymoon. Congrats Carly x
3. Unfortunately our eftpos provider has increased their percentage for eftpos/ cc payments by 400% to 1% of all transactions. As a small business we are not able to absorb this cost, so from next week all card payments will incur a surcharge 😢
