V-Day Byron Bay

V-Day Byron Bay V-Day Byron Bay Feb 14 dance at 6.30am Main Beach is the annual event, standing to end voilence against women & girls as part of 1BillionRising. Ms.

V-Day Byron Bay are a group of local women making a stand to end violence against women. We create the annual V-Day Byron Flashmob Dance Action on FEB 14th on Main Beach, and after sell out productions of the Va**na Monologues, we have now e-vulva-ed into the more contemporary and original sell out Va**na Conversations, women telling their own Va**na stories. These events are fundraisers for the Byron Escape Fund. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Va**na Monologues and other artistic works. The V-Day movement has raised over $100 million; educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it; crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns; reopened shelters; and funded over 13,000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt, and Iraq. V-Day has received numerous acknowledgements and awards and is, one of the Top-Rated organizations on both Charity Navigator and Guidestar. V-Day’s most recent global campaign, ONE BILLION RISING, galvanized over one billion women and men on a global day of action towards ending violence against women and girls. Vday.org

What are The Va**na Monologues? Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Va**na Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world - from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City. Villard Books/Random House first published The Va**na Monologues, which includes a foreword by Gloria Steinem, in February 1998. A special edition was released in hard cover and paperback in February 2008 in honor of V-Day’s ten year anniversary.

This event is not connected to V-Day Byron Bay. We are just helping spread word.

Simone McIvor is putting together an International Women’s Day fundraiser on Sunday, March 8th at Coorabell Hall in support of Mākou, a social enterprise I’m in the early stages of building. We collaborate with women to create economic independence, preserve cultural traditions, and develop community-led projects across the Northern Territory, India, Africa, Palestine, and Afghanistan.

Funds raised from this event will go directly toward travel and on-the-ground engagement, letting us take a real grassroots approach: building genuine relationships, working alongside communities, and making sure every dollar has meaningful impact.

Afternoon kicks off with a Welcome to Country ceremony 🌿

We love how the word is spreading ❤️

Whether women choose to attend or not, our goal is that every woman in the Northern Rivers knows about V-Day Byron Bay…..and that it takes place every Valentine’s Day morning.

Awareness matters. Visibility matters. And together, we continue to grow the ripple.

Thanks to the Byron Coast Times for using my photos from the V-Day Byron Bay event. 💃❤️

We’d love to know about your experience….

Thank you so much to Quinn Ingram-Arnold, who generously volunteered his time and somehow managed to capture incredible drone footage of V-Day Byron Bay 2026 despite the winds and the threat of rain.

We truly appreciate your dedication and talent, it means so much to our community!

The Va**na Conversations are loosely connected to V-Day Byron Bay. It is also run by Zenith Virago. All proceeds go toward funding women’s domestic violence.

Such a great event where women tell their personal stories. If you have never been to one, it is a roller coaster of emotions! You are laughing one minute and crying the next.

The raffle draw of nearly 30 prizes is another highlight of the event, Mandy Nolan has everyone in hysterics for over an hour!

It is on st the Brunswick Picture House every year very close to V-Day Byron Bay’s gathering on Valentines Day.

So many more beautiful moments from the day ❤️
It was incredibly powerful to see so many women coming together to raise awareness that violence against women and children is still happening and that we will not stay silent.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, danced, supported and stood in solidarity.

A sea of women dressed in red, dancing their hearts out at V-Day Byron Bay to Break the Chain ❤️

What an incredibly emotional and powerful moment. You could feel the strength, unity and courage in every movement. Together, they didn’t just dance, they truly broke the chain.

So much heart. So much solidarity. So much power in coming together. ❤️🔥

More Dance opportunities:

“The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever– 20 July
Calling all Kates!

I'll be teaching the iconic Wuthering Heights dance on the beach at Brunswick Heads for four Saturdays from *8:00–9:00am*, leading up to the big day on *Sunday 20 July*, when we’ll gather as a *tragedy of Kates* to dance together... somewhere!

* Saturdays, 8–9am on the beach):*
- 24 May
- 14 June
- 28 June
- 12 July

No prior *Kate* experience is necessary — all Kates are welcome! All humans can be a Kate. The dance is only 3 minutes long: a passionate burst of movement that anyone can learn. It’s fine if you can’t make every session. We’ll stretch, move, and enjoy dancing in the sand together.

On *Sunday 20 July*, we’ll don our red dresses, place red flowers in our hair, and waft about with great tragic joy.

*It’s all free — I just fancy it.*

If you'd like to join, contact me to be added to the WhatsApp group. Then you can add other Kates to the group. “
