I shared a recipe for home made chocolate the other day. I gave it a go yesterday and I can honestly say that it actually tastes pretty darn good! It is so easy to make and requires very few ingredients. The two main ingredients are Cocoa powder (I used Cacao powder as it is even better for your health than cocoa)itβs high in antioxidants, magnesium, iron and calcium. Coconut oil is the other main ingredient and they are used in about equal quantities. It gives you a quick energy boost whilst also being good for metabolism. It is touted to be antibacterial, antiviral and also antimicrobial.
I recommend that you taste it as you combine the cacao with the coconut oil and coffee and adjust the quantities until you get the flavour that you want. I put a minimal amount of castor sugar in mine. I also recommend that you only make up about half the quantity for your first try as it is quite rich and you donβt need a lot. I donβt have any peppermint oil at the moment, but I think that would be a lovely variant if you prefer not to use coffee powder. Crushed nuts could also be worth a try. Make sure you stir the mixture in a bowl over a pot of hot water on the stove for long enough for the sugar and coffee to dissolve properly. I poured mine into a little milk jug once it was nice and smooth and then poured it into some little silicon patty pots. Leave it in the freezer for about half an hour so you know it will then be well set. Itβs summer here in Australia so I keep my finished product in the fridge and do my best to limit myself to eating just one or two a day. That really does test my willpower! π€£πππ
