✨ New Moon in Chitra • Diwali • The Light of Dharma ✨
As we arrive at this New Moon, we stand at the threshold of Diwali — the Festival of Light — a time to honour the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
Traditionally, a candle or lamp is placed at the doorway — a symbolic gesture to invite illumination, wisdom, and opportunity into our homes and hearts.
This New Moon falls in Chitra Nakshatra, the star known as the “shining jewel,” symbolised by a radiant diamond.
Chitra’s light cuts through the darkness with piercing clarity — a spark of divine inspiration and a reminder that the truest wealth is the wisdom to know what is uniquely right for you, moment to moment.
When the mind is illuminated by dharma — by right purpose — one is truly wealthy.
This festival of Diwali begins with celebrations of Dhanteras, which is the story of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine healer who arose from the cosmic ocean holding a pot of amrita, - the nectar of immortality and honoured as the lord of Ayurvedic medicine.
So this is also a sacred time to honour the wisdom of Ayurveda — and a beautiful opportunity to cleanse, restore balance, and invite vitality.
We also call upon Lakshmi, the divine mother and nourisher of the world, and Ganesha, the remover of obstacles — energies that together awaken abundance, compassion, and peace within.
As you light your candle this Diwali, remember:
💫 Light shines brightest in the darkness.
💫 Prosperity, compassion, and peace radiate from within.
💫 Each spark you ignite is an offering to your higher purpose.
On this subject of LIGHT, it is perhaps important to note, that astrologically, from October 18, expansive Jupiter brings his heightened divine grace — a time when faith, opportunity, and spiritual support increase for those who are open to it.
On November 11, Jupiter turns retrograde in the constellation of Punarvasu, the “return of the light,” bringing renewal, reflection, and a deep reconnection to spiritual truth.
Throughout November, Jupiter’s aspect with Saturn offers a healing influence for relationships, an energy for learning and teaching, and a supportive current for service, devotion, and spiritual practice.
🪔 A Diwali Ritual for Heartfelt Purpose 🪔
✨ Light a candle
Choose a small candle or lamp and place it at your doorway or sacred space.
As the flame steadies, feel it as a symbol of your own inner radiance — the spark of clarity, purpose, and possibility that lives within you.
🌟 Be Open to opportunity
Take a few quiet breaths. Ask yourself gently: What new opportunity, purpose, or heart felt inspiration is ready to arise?
Trust the whispers that come — they are the voice of your heart calling you.
💛 Offer gratitude
Bring to mind the blessings that have guided you to this moment — your teachers, your growth, your resilience.
Let gratitude soften your heart and expand your awareness.
🙏 Set an intention
Let your heart speak. What quality do you wish to carry into the months ahead — openness, courage, compassion, ritual, spiritual discipline, self care, deepening your knowledge, charity or humanitarian work?
Whisper it softly to the flame and let the light hold it for you.
🎇 Celebrate together — from within and afar
Know that across homes, mats, and oceans worldwide, we are joined in this moment and celebration of LIGHT — a shared remembrance that illumination begins within.
May this Diwali and New Moon fill your path with radiant clarity and divine purpose.
May you walk forward with a heart open to grace, aligned with opportunity, and guided by the quiet brilliance of your inner flame.
🕯️✨ Happy Diwali ✨
