Himalayan Community Care Services would like to extend our sincere thanks to Michael Healy MP for generously taking the time to meet with us. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss our current services, as well as the initiatives we are developing to better support the region.

Our conversation provided a valuable opportunity to share insights into the work we are doing within the NDIS and the broader community support sector, and to explore ways we can continue strengthening our services. His willingness to listen and learn about our achievements and the challenges we face was deeply appreciated by our entire team.

It was both encouraging and inspiring to witness Mr. Healy’s genuine interest in our work and the communities we serve. His willingness to listen and learn about our achievements and the challenges we face was deeply appreciated by our entire team.

🌏 Meeting with Himalayan Community Care Services
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with the team from Himalayan Community Care Services and it was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the vital work they do supporting families across our region.

The organisation plays an important role in helping newly arrived families settle into our community, offering guidance, culturally informed support, and pathways to local services. They also work hard to maintain strong cultural ties, ensuring that people can honour their heritage while building a future here in Far North Queensland.

The team shared some of their exciting new initiatives, including expanded cultural and language support programs, youth activities aimed at building confidence and leadership, and upcoming health and wellbeing workshops designed to strengthen social connection and improve access to support. They are also preparing a range of community events and cultural celebrations that will enrich our region and bring people together.

I’m grateful for the chance to meet with them and deeply appreciate the positive impact they continue to have in our community. Their dedication, compassion, and forward‑thinking projects make a real difference in the lives of many.

Morning Tea & Open Home at Draper Street – Thank You All!

Last Thursday was such a special day! We loved seeing so many NDIS stakeholders and community representatives at our Morning Tea & Open Home event, exploring our brand-new units designed to support independent living options for NDIS. Your time and support mean so much to us, and we hope the visit gave you a good look at the options we are providing for NDIS participants who want to live independently with choice and control and support on hand.

Cairns faces a huge shortage of rental homes, we’re hopeful that our small effort can make some positive difference in the lives of NDIS participants who need safe and comfortable homes.
For those who missed it, here’s what our Independent Living Options Units offer:
✔ Fully furnished
✔ Utilities included
✔ Wheelchair accessible
✔ Convenient location near the CBD

Swipe through some wonderful memories from the day, captured beautifully by Sanjay Rai's Media, thank you for the amazing photos!

Spaces are limited to just 12 units, so please don’t wait! Send through your Expression of Interest and help us make independence a reality for more NDIS participants.
