What a great honour it was to be hosted on The Empower Hour at Cairns Community Radio 89.1 FM!
A big thank you to the incredible host Joe and DJ Jesse for giving us the opportunity.
During the show, we shared about our services, especially the affordable housing and living options we provide for NDIS participants. In our group activities, all the participants absolutely love playing Carrom Board!

For those who may not know, Carrom is a popular indoor tabletop game that originated in South Asia. It’s played on a square wooden board where players use their fingers to flick a striker disc and pocket smaller discs (called carrom men) into the corner pockets — similar to billiards, but without cues. What an amazing last 8–9 days in Cairns!

From cheering at the Australia vs South Africa cricket match 🏏, to connecting with the community at the Cairns Disability Expo where Himalayan Community Care Services also hosted a wonderful community BBQ, and then celebrating culture, colours, and togetherness at the GOPIO Cairns Indian Festival – it’s truly been a week full of energy, joy, and unforgettable memories.

Grateful to be part of such wonderful events and looking forward to many more moments like these! 🙏

Sharing some beautiful moments from Cairns Disability Network - Expo.

Himalayan Community Care Services Pty Ltd had the absolute pleasure of being part of FNQ’s biggest and most vibrant networking expo, the atmosphere was buzzing. It was such a joy to meet so many locals, have genuine conversations, share what we do, and simply connect with the community.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall to say hello, join in the raffle fun, or grab a sausage from our BBQ! We served over 500 sausages and were so happy to hear that the BBQ and raffle brought a little extra joy to the day.

Huge shoutout to our amazing HCCS team, what a team effort! And thank you to the organisers for putting together such a great impactful event that helps bridge the gap between service providers and the people we’re here to support.

Let’s keep building that spirit and making sure no one is left behind.

The Himalayan Community Care Services, in collaboration with Centacare FNQ, recently hosted another enriching Bhutanese Men's Wellbeing session — this time at the tranquil Crystal Cascades, a hidden natural gem beloved by many in the Cairns region.

While a small group of participants relaxed under the shelter enjoying a friendly social game, the rest of the group embarked on a serene nature walk. Following the winding footpath, they ventured to the top of the trail, taking in the lush green surroundings and the crystal-clear waters that make this spot so special.

As they walked, many participants were reminded of the landscapes of Bhutan, drawing heartfelt comparisons to the rivers, lakes, and native flora of their homeland. Some even named the trees and shrubs in Nepali language, sharing cultural knowledge and memories that brought the group closer together.

Crystal Cascades holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for many in the local community — especially Hindu families, who visit the site for sacred rituals such as and .

The experience offered more than just physical wellness; it was a moment of spiritual connection, cultural reflection, and community bonding — a true celebration of nature and heritage.
