Just the tip…and a little extra…as always, DO NOT attempt to remove impaled objects at home! You cannot know if there are any compromised major blood vessels!
from

Foreign Body Friday… Fence through hand! This person was doing some fence work when he suddenly slipped, instinctively trying to hold on one of the spearheads of the metal fence, which then pierced him and got lodged through the palm of his hand.

🧠See if you can answer the following questions about this case:

1. How would you choose to stabilize this type of injury on scene?
2. If there was uncontrolled bleeding, where on the patients arm would you place a tourniquet?
3. The patient tells you that his pain is 9/10 on the pain scale, how would you manage his pain until you arrive at the hospital?
