Kindred Pet Grief & Loss

Kindred Pet Grief & Loss Kindred Pet Grief and Loss Counselling offers a professional, compassionate, and supportive specialist pet grief and Bereavement service.

We support all those who are struggling with the loss, or expected loss of their companion animal. Kindred Pet Grief and Loss offers a PACFA accredited, clinical counselling service specializing in attachment and grief counselling within the context of the human-animal bond. The bonds we share with our companion animals are unique, fulfilling and imbued with personal meaning and connection. We are blessed with their living and loving presence, so it goes without saying that we deeply grieve when this relationship changes through loss. We may also find ourselves in the unenviable position of deciding if our companions are suffering too greatly to maintain a quality of life. Weather you have lost an animal companion or are struggling with difficult questions about compassionately euthanising a loved one in the future, Kindred Pet Grief and Loss is here to support you. Kindred offers a safe and informed space where you can explore the difficult experiences and questions that arise, openly and honestly, allowing your grief to move forward in such a way as to honour the memory of your beloved companion animals. We understand that we are not only working with a unique individual, with their own story of loss, but with the memory and story of a unique animal companion. For some, a pet is an animal to share our space with. For many of us, though, a pet is a best friend, a companion, a family member, a trusted confidant, a source of love, joy, stability, and a supportive and caring figure in our lives. Your experience of loss is valid, warranting time, space, and consideration to process. If you feel overwhelmed or stuck in your grief, contact Kindred and have a chat.

I found this very simple and beautiful representation of how companion animals support us every day as we negotiate and carry the strain of empathically being with others.

For all my clients past and present, and for those who have been blessed with lives enriched by love, and the hardest day's of our lives.

Thankyou for the ongoing privilege of walking with you through your grief and growth.

It’s a testament to our bond, that even in loss our story continues.

I want to acknowledge my clients who have lost and grieved their companions with such honesty and resilience. I am deeply encouraged by your ability to continue in growth after the physical loss of a companion.

There is such depth of insight to be gained in reflecting on and exploring the unique peculiarities of our bonds. What they offered us that others didn’t, how they were unique, what our bond meant, what we need, and who we are to them.

We suffer through grief, but there is an ongoing gift through our time together, that even in loss we learn, we develop and we appreciate a little more.

For Those i work with, and for those we grieve-Thank You

Each companion animal in our life attends to our suffering, acute and delicate alike.

Each In their own way simply listens, sharing in our highs and lows. But they all, through their attuned presence and intuitive sensitivities ease our daily burden.

Though it may change, our bond remains intact.
And to this day we are undeniably changed and informed by their gentle gift of presence.

A massive thankyou to Saori for this beautiful gift. I know you specialise in Dog Portraits, but you have done an amazing job capturing the cheeky eyes and regal stature of my beloved Maine C**n. Were he with me now, I know he would be curled up in this sunny patch of my office.
Saori is an amazing artist, with a unique ability to capture in portrait, the unique spirit of each animal companion.
Thankyou for helping me honour his memory in this way.

A very common statement I hear in companion animal grief work, is that we still find ourselves expecting them to greet us when we arrive home.

In managing loss, it's normal that we still feel their presence, we expect them to idle up to our side or to hear them at breakfast, our attachment bond is so strong and unique, that it inevitably takes time for us to come to terms with what has changed. This is how we cope with the loss of a loved one.

Our shared routine of daily greeting's, created over time forms a powerful ritual that we too must grieve.

Was was your daily ritual?

The Bond formed with our companion animals, is so unique and indefinable. There is no doubt that talking of memories and mourning our loss in language can help our grief process. Though we can never define what we have lost in it's entirety. We have lost the whole of them and a part of us. We cannot speak to all our time shared, the vast scope of our emotion, the changing of attachment, to the feeling of their fur, feathers or skin, and our shared language. We cannot speak the light throughout our memories, and the countless moments in between.

Grieve well....

Exciting news!!!

After spending the last couple of months consulting with industry professionals, Kindred Counselling and Psychotherapy is very proud to offer psychological support to meet the unique needs of Veterinarian and animal welfare staff.

The Veterinarian and animal welfare industries employ hardworking, resilient, and compassionate staff. Engaging an essential service, that is facing growing demand and pressure in response to the pandemic.
While these industries are deeply rewarding, they carry occupational stressors that, if unchecked, can lead to burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue.

If you feel the pressure, then don’t hesitant to connect today to discuss how Kindred Counselling and Psychotherapy can support you. Your health and wellbeing is far too valuable, and your skills too vital, to be compromised any longer.

Thanks for all your amazing work

Every purr and every pat was a blessing.

No human listens quite like our companion animals, their mere presence is healing. Many times I'd been able to just sit and talk to them, feeling heard and understood.
Wouldn't you agree?
