Michelle Thomas (Owner Manager of FNSC) BIO
My Name is Michelle Thomas and I am an Aboriginal Woman, who grew up in Yarrabah Far Nth Qld. I am a Senior Support Coordinator who has worked in the NDIS field for the past 3yrs, I come from a case management background, as I worked in the child protection sector for over 8 yrs – (I worked for Child Protection in Qld for 3 yrs & 8 mths, Recognised Entity (1yr), & Foster & Kinship Care Service (4yrs)), prior to this I worked in the Qld health service & disability service field for over 10 yrs. As you can see, I have been in the social and community service sector for over 19 years. I established First Nations Support Coordination Service on the 17th April 2023 to fill a gap after my last employer decided that they were no longer providing a Coordination of Support (CoS) Service. The main reason for establishing this business is because I have a passion for supporting our people, and I wanted to continue providing a COS service to the clients that I was working with. Although I am currently situated in Broome WA, all my staff members are in Cairns & Yarrabah, in fact I am the only staff member delivering a service from FNSC service in the Kimberley. We are 100% First Peoples owned and operated. At this stage we have 41 clients (35 in Cairns & surround, 4 in Halls Creek and 2 in Broome WA) and 12 staff members. We offer culturally appropriate and safe service to our people, whilst encouraging our mob to have choice and control over their NDIS Plans.
