If we’re close, you may already know, I dated a narcissist back in 2021. My new song: TOXIC Chameleon’s about that relationship, and the damage it did to me.
The song’s lyrics are a mix of humour and lament. It wasn’t all bad. We did laugh a lot at the beginning, but it soon soured and became the most toxic experience I’ve had in my entire life!
Aside from letting out my frustrations, I wrote this song as a sign post, to help other listeners identify if they too might be in a relationship with a narcissist. My advice: block them, avoid them, leave them, get a restraining order put on them if you have to. There’s no hope for those people. You need to care for yourself.
This song might make some listeners feel uncomfortable. It carries the “F” bomb too. So perhaps listen in private, and decide whether you let your kids listen to it or not after you’ve heard it.
I wanna add, I’m okay now. I had to go through 9 months of counselling and psychology sessions to come to terms with what was done to me. And learn how to avoid similar people in the future. It helped a lot. I strongly recommend professional help if you too are recovering from an abusive relationship.
