My Pathway

My Pathway A social and economic development organisation delivering services from the Top End to Tasmania Welcome to the official My Pathway Page. No personal attacks.

These rules aren’t meant to constrain or intrude on your personal opinions and thoughts. They’re just suggestions to help everyone enjoy, interact and express themselves on our page. We ask you all to consider these when you visit us. MY PATHWAY FACEBOOK HOUSE RULES

We respect everyone’s right to express their thoughts and opinions and encourage constructive dialogue among followers of this page. However, if your contributions don’t comply with My Pathway Values (SARIS), Facebook’s Terms or our House Rules then they (and you) may be removed. Whilst we moderate this site we do hope to create a community with you that is built on respect, and over time develop a culture of self-moderation. So we’ve kept it to just five basic rules that we ask you to keep in mind:
1. Keep your posts nice and culturally appropriate. Don’t be obscene, offensive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, overtly sexual, political, discriminatory or hateful to another person or organisation - including the group, our clients, our fellow employees, stakeholders, competitors and other people or organisations.
2. Leave names out of your posts unless they are a compliment or a good news story.
3. Keep posts relevant to the current issues and threads. The past is the past.
4. This is a spam-free zone. No reposting of posts from other sites or ads.
5. You take responsibility for what you post (your actions) on any social media page or blog. We will remove inappropriate posts. We welcome your feedback, both positive and negative and will endeavour to respond to your comments through our standard communication and management process where we believe a reply is required/suitable. While we support lively, open discussion, we reserve the right to delete comments that don’t meet the house rules at our discretion. That’s enough of the serious stuff. Now let’s have some fun. Make a post, add a comment and get involved. We look forward to interacting with you and thanks for being part of our journey. PHOTOGRAPH USE

If you post a photo or video to any of our pages, My Pathway group assumes you have gained prior written permission from the people featured in the photograph as per our media policy. My Pathway takes no responsibility for the posting of photographs or videos that are posted by fans of these pages.

Thanks for the post Motion Curve!

Our Cook team have been getting so much engagement at local schools and career events with the "A day in the life of" program developed through this partnership.

It's such an exciting way to explore the diverse careers available in this remote part of Queensland, and is helping to provide those looking to enter the workforce with great training and development opportunities.

PARTICIPANT VOICES - TASMANIA

We’re celebrating the amazing Natasha, who has just completed her 12-month mentoring journey with My Pathway!

Based in Tasmania, Natasha runs a soulful massage therapy business, supporting her community with care, compassion and healing hands. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside Natasha as she grew her confidence, refined her goals and embraced the next chapter of her business journey.

Here’s what Natasha has shared about her experience:

“The mentoring program kept me accountable and helped me stay aligned with my goals. It gave me more confidence, and after every session, I left feeling inspired - like I had a boost of energy. That inspiration carried me through the month and kept me moving forward with clear action steps.

One of my biggest challenges was figuring out how to get more clients. Through mentoring, I gained fresh, practical ideas that have already made a difference. I absolutely recommend this program. Teresa’s life philosophies really align with mine, and she has such a warm, uplifting energy. It felt less like being coached and more like having a heart-to-heart with a wise friend.”

Natasha, you are such a gift for the Launceston community. We can’t wait to see how your business grows and expands into the future.

We have been following Waylon's journey for a few years now, and it's fantastic to see him achieve another great step with his bike up and rolling now and giving him even more freedom and independence!

NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme

The NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme recently shared Waylon’s inspiring story, and we wanted to provide an exciting update on his progress! You can read his original story here: https://www.ndis.gov.au/stories/10542-ndis-supporting-waylon-live-independently

Since then, Waylon and his support worker, Stepho, have successfully completed their project to restore a men’s bicycle. Waylon has loved getting hands-on with this task, showing great dedication and skill in:

✔ Repairing the tyres and tubes
✔ Cleaning, correcting, and tightening the brakes and chain
✔ Polishing the frame and rims until they sparkle

Now, he’s proudly cruising around Cooktown on his fully restored bike! A special shoutout to Roz, support worker Stepho’s wife, for gifting Waylon a brand-new helmet to keep him safe on his rides.

What a fantastic outcome, Waylon! Keep up the great work as you continue progressing towards your NDIS goal of greater independence. 👏👏

After more than a decade on the Board of Reconciliation Australia (RA), where he generously shared his unique perspectives from remote and regional Australia to progress the work of the national body, our Director, Kenny Bedford, has recently stepped down from his position there.

His final official roles as a Board Member were to take part in the closing panel of the National RAP conference in Brisbane in November and to address the VIP event as an Awards Judge at the Indigenous Governance Awards Gala Dinner.

He used these opportunities to share his gratitude for the experience, learnings and opportunities that have come with the role and acknowledged our support as his employer and as a RAP partner throughout his RA Board contribution.

"One of the biggest contributions My Pathway has made as a RAP partner has been the support to develop my leadership roles including my service on the Boards of RA and My Pathway, as well as my community advocacy and representative roles more widely. I am also grateful to My Pathway for their encouragement and support for me to complete my Masters in the true spirit of our organisational commitment to Developing, Connecting and Growing."

Kenny's retirement from the RA Board coincided with the successful completion his Masters of Indigenous Business Leadership at Monash University. He will officially be awarded his Masters at a graduation ceremony in 2025.

We respect, acknowledge and celebrate these achievements by our Director and wish Kenny a well-deserved break with his family over the Christmas holiday period.
