We’re proud to welcome our 2026 fourth year medical students from JCU: College of Medicine and Dentistry to Cairns Private Hospital.

This year marks our largest cohort ever, made possible through the strong and ongoing partnership between Ramsay Health Care and James Cook University to help train the next generation of doctors.

We look forward to supporting these future clinicians as they gain hands-on experience alongside our incredible medical teams.

Congratulations to Dr Boris Ruggiero and his team, who are now performing sacral nerve stimulator insertions at Cairns Private Hospital.

The surgery involves implanting a device to send mild electric impulses to stimulate nerves that control the bladder and bowels, the way a pacemaker sends electric impulses through heart muscles. The procedure can be used for patients with overactive or underactive bladders, or who can't control or manage their bowel movements.

We are proud to be expanding our services and investing in innovative procedures at Cairns Private Hospital to continue providing high-quality care for the North Queensland community.

We’re proud to share that Cairns Private Hospital has expanded its orthopaedic robotics program with the arrival of a second ROSA robot, doubling our capacity to perform robotic-assisted knee replacements.

This means more North Queensland locals can now access high-quality robotic surgery sooner, and closer to home.

More than 60 Ramsay Health Care staff laced up their runners for the Cairns Marathon Festival over the weekend — joining over 4,000 participants across the marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km and 2km events.

A special shoutout to our cardiac medical team who brought the fun (and the inflatables!) to the 2km race – what a fantastic show of team spirit and community connection.

We’re proud to be part of events that support health, wellbeing and togetherness in the Far North. Well done to everyone who took part!
